good day all,
since the weather here is kinda of nasty we are not going to motocross today. i think we are going to stay in & have an indoor picnic.
have any other nitro owners have a "hooty" type of a squeak at very low speeds or even in park? sounds like around the transmission area. i have had a few other rattles & have tracked them down, but this one is hard to find. any ideas?
thanks

Well, hehehe, I have refrained from posting anything about hooty sounds. I would prefer to call them toy train toots. Toot toot! Heheheh, it still makes me laugh when I write about it!

My R/T does this all the time and has since it left the lot that first day. It may be associated with the transmission, but I don't necessarily believe that. Unlike you, I do not hear it in park.

I hear these sounds when I accelerate in first gear, but only at the beginning of the acceleration, then just as the transmission shifts into second and continues to accelerate. It does not make the sound in any other gears. I also hear it when I slow to a stop and it makes the sound just before I come to a complete stop. For these reasons, I have always thought is was the traction control system. The sounds are so faint I can only hear them with the windows up and driving around slowly-no radio. If if get on the throttle, I can't hear anything over the engine and exhaust.

I don't believe the hoots or toots to be of any concern, just a quirk of a highly computerized vehicle.

My front brakes have a little squeal to them, but I have decided to let them go also.

I sometimes hear a faint "Hooty" noise when I shift from 1st to 2nd at part throttle in my 6 speed 3.7L. If mine is the same noise it has nothing to do with the tranny is is not unique to the 3.7 or 4.0.

Maybe we can record this noise on a wav file and share it for comparison.

heys guys,
thanks for the feed back. the noise does not effect performance at all. maybe i will spend some time & try to find it.
side note:
i did ride on sunday & should not have. hear i sit with a broken collar bone & no more motocross for 6-8 weeks, so i will have time to search for the noise.
(this really stinks)
thanks for the inpu
