I've got the bolt's now 12mm x 40mm x 1.75 thread pitch. I need to know the torque for those bad boys. I doubt I could strip them but I'd like to put the right torque on them. Also, do I need any washers? Lock or flat?

Check the grade markings on the bolt heads (8.8, 10.9), that will determine the proper tq.

Typical tq for 12mm diameter bolt is; 8.8 - 60ftlbs, 10.9 - 85ftlbs, and 12.9 -95flbs.

As for washers, it depends on if the nuts are self locking are not.

Look at the inner diameter of the nut, if it is not perfectly round (meaning one edge of the circle is deformed) or has some type of insert and it can not be spun past the first couple of threads easily by hand then use a flat washer.

If the inner diameter is completely round and the nut spins on the bolt easily, use a lock washer.

Hey everyone. I need help.
I purchased a hitch kit and the bolts they sent wouldn't screw in. So I jumped on the forum and read this and purchased some bolts this size. 12x40x1.75.
Well that is what they sent me to begin with. They will not work. Any ideas?

Pull the one from the Track Bar Gusset to Body Side Rail. It looks like they are all the same.
Top bolt in this Pic post 1.
The holes/threads may just need a good cleaning.

Hitch Bolts

So I finally have bit the bullet and purchased a hitch for my Nitro so that I can begin hauling some wood from my house to a friends. I bought the recommended M12x1.75x40 bolts that should fit the stock threads on the frame of the Nitro.

However, these bolts are significantly larger than the threads are underneath my Nitro. I do not think the holes are that dirty that they would cause the bolts to not even begin threading in.

Has there ever been another size bolt that could fit into the stock mounting holes on the Nitro?
