Here are a few pictures I took while adding a set of Pilot PL-195A's to my Nitro that didn't come with factory fog lights. These 4" lights have the yellow bowl reflector and I replaced the clear bulbs with Nokya Hyper Yellow H3 bulbs. I'm making my own wiring harness and the diagram is in the members gallery. I really plan to use them as DRL's for more visibility OF me during the daytime. The first thing you have to do is mark where you are going to cut:

I used my B & D rotary tool with a side cutting bit to make the cuts:

Next is to locate holes for the fasteners (of your choice) and insert the bezel with the light installed and pop the rivets in. I used the expanding type rivets from Lowe's. There is a little supporting leg that bends down and is attached to the air dam lip...I forgot to take the camera with me and I wasn't going back...

Now that you're good at it, do the other side. The only factory parts I used were the bezels which I got from AdamC.....Thanks again Adam and Congratulations on the new addition to your family. Tomorrow I hope to wire them up and will show you what they look like. Here's the front end view:

Thank you all for your comments and Thank You to dk1677 and Meangirl for the rep points. :wavey: It looks like the wiring is going to be "interesting" to say the least....and:

Dave - How or where did you go through the firewall with your install? ( I've got my eye on that big rubber plug on the outboard side of the brake booster...)

Yup ! It pops out and I made a small hole in the center of it , the rubber seals it but I did put some silicone on it too, come to think of it that could be the cold air problem some have mentioned in the heater thread, its a big hole maybe some insulation there for those that feel cold air? My floor on the drivers side receives good heat but that could be a leak for some. Also take out the little storage compartment on the left of the steering wheel and you get a nice view of the back of the plug

Thanks, I got all the under hood wiring finished with the exception of pop riveting my grounds to the fender liner by the relay, then I was rained out. I did use that hole we discussed, that thing is huge. I don't see any problem with finishing this job tomorrow and taking the tray you mentioned out will let me wire the switch without taking that panel off that is under the steering column. I appreciate the info, a couple more rep points are headed your way. :wavey: :rep:

Those look sweet! You should take some night time pics as well!
Thanks 300 Addict, I'm going to have the switch in today and plan on putting some night time pictures up along with a picture of the switch by this evening.

Here's a shot of them in the daylight.....maybe use as DRL's? I think I have to adjust a bit more too. Now if I could figure a good place for the switch.........if anybody has a suggestion, I would love to hear it !! :wavey:

OK, here is a shot of them at night. These are H3 Hyper Yellow by Nokya and are rated 2500K color wise they don't list output in lumens but they are a little brighter than I would prefer.

I put a picture of the relay and wiring close to it.

I'm still looking for a good place to mount the switch. But I'll put a picture of it in my gallery. I'm leaning toward putting it on the front of the mini glove box to the left of the steering column. :SHOCKED:Gasp I wanted to put it about there but to the right of the column but quickly found out why these trucks weigh 2 tons......There's heavy duty metal behind all that plastic and I couldn't get to it! Thanks for all the comments and suggestions, I appreciate them all. :wavey: Dave

OK, I got the switch mounted, it isn't where I had planned on putting it but I can live with it. It doesn't take up much room in the mini tray so it's still usable.

There is a picture of the inside of the mini tray in the gallery. Overall, a fun project, I hope someone else without factory fog lights sees it. :wavey:
