Just wanted to drop a thread, the show was a huge success this weekend with over 400 cars entered by the cut-off time:smileup:. We didn't win anything but the message is out about this site and I handed out over forty invitations to current owners and potential owners. I'll post highlight pictures as soon as I have them processed for posting.
This inaugural show will definitely become an annual and I invite anyone interested next year to join in the fun. The old track is very overgrown and all of the wooden structures are caving in but amazingly it is still all there...even around turn two which is only feet from an embankment leading down into the Enos river. According to the old-timers there were a couple drivers who ended up in the river over the years of operation, 1948-1968. Although those stories were not nearly as funny as the one about the fella who fell through the floor of one of the out-houses and had to be fished out of the muck...LOL! (GAG).
Lot's of money was raised and hopefully the planning stages for clean up and the construction of the museum will commence post-haste.
Many of the old drivers and cars showed up...even Dale Earnhardt Jr showed up as well as Junior Johnson who was promoting his new Legally Produced and Distributed Carolina Moonshine. We even purchased a signed bottle at the auction...oh my 40% alcohol...hee hee! Probably won't be popping the top on this bottle, LOL!
My wife was a little reluctant to enter her Nitro at first but was pleasantly surprised when the Nitro got almost as much attention as the Crossfire. There were some very interested parties and hopefully they will make themselves known here shortly...the most disparaging thing I heard was the lack of third row seating, seems that is a big ticket item in the mommies category.
Y'all have a wonderful Monday and I'll get those pix posted tomorrow...oh today is our anniversary so I doubt I'll have time for more than this note today.
