I have the liberty with the 3.7 (no 4.0 available on jeeps), and after a road trip with a few guys in the jeep, I really noticed how gutless this thing is.

Going uphill, the engine was wound out at near redline, and it actually felt like it was SLOWING down with the revs that high.

Is there anyway I can get this thing to about 240-250HP without nitrous or turbo?

I guess I want to know what to realistically expect if I do the only available mods of exhaust, chip, and intake.

Or should I just not even bother and accept the fact that I wont be trying to pass anything in this vehicle.

Wow, I have the 3.7 with 4-speed auto on my Nitro, and have had no real issues with power ... except that it won't take a somewhat steep grade on the freeway that well while oin overdrive.

Otherwise, it's quite responsive. When I stomp on it, IT GOES!!!

My only real issue is that it wants to shift into overdrive (or engage the torque converter) at too low of a speed (or RPM level.) Having the tranny computer put back into Quick Learn mode, then doing the Drive It Like You Stole It thing for a day or two helped that out to some degree.

Good luck!

Yes mine is good too! you can do a catback exhaust and get a performance chip, a cold air intake all would help , others will be along to give advice and Joe is right about " drive it like you stole it"

My 3.7L has no issues. I can tow a 5' X 12' X 2' trailer loaded with wood from our place in the mountains with out any problems. Almost the same power as my 4.0L Jeep used to be. Actually, the Nitro has more power, since the Jeep has 215,000 miles on it and it is getting tired.
