I bought a brand new Dodge Nitro SLT 4 months ago. It's been in the shop four times and I only have 1600 miles on it!!! I had to have the rear right wheel replaced (paint peeling), the transmission jerks through every gear, the driver's seat was loose and slid back and forth, and the stereo buzzes even at low volumes!!!

I'll never buy a Dodge again and can't wait to trade this piece of crap in for something else!!!!

This is the worst purchase of my life!!! I know this site is for Nitro Fans, but my experience has been horrible!!!

May Your Problems Soon Be Remedied

I hope your problems are soon resolved. They do not sound serious, and the dealer certainly should be able to quickly remedy them. If this remains an issue, you should consider going to another dealer.

I bought my Nitro R/T on February 5 and have had absolutely no problems with it. I have owned several Dodge products, and they have all been stellar performers and operated without problems.

The most problematic vehicle I have ever owned was a 1969 Chevrolet Corvette with 427cid engine. Absolutely everything went wrong with that vehicle. I did not, however, blame the make or model. I blamed only that particular vehicle. While not particularly a Corvette fan, I have owned two other Corvettes that posed no problems.

I am above all a Mopar fan.

Good luck!

I still have my 427 tripower 68 Vette and when it is out of the garage, it runs fine.

I have had big problems with 2 K-cars and a Dodge Dynasty. That did not stop me from becoming a Nitro buyer even after reading this forum.

It is a unique enough little truck to put up with this. I passed on a Toyota FJ Cruiser, despite the Japanese reputation for quality.

Sorry to hear your woes, I know the feeling, but I'm gonna try to work through it, and try for another one. I love the truck, but not the problem with this one. See what the dealer is going to do for you. did you file complaint with the NHTSA? if not please do...

I appreciate your frustration, but there these are all known problems with a Fix. Maybe you need to go to a new dealer.

Search this forum and you will find TSB's for all but the paint peeling on the wheels.

1. Radio Buzz -- TSB shows dealer a simple 30 min fix.
2. Tranny - May need a flash or a new Torque converter

If you arrive armed at the dealer with the TSB's, you will fair better.

Too bad you had such a bad experience. I still would try to resolve the issues with the dealer if it were me. I have no complaints about my brand new SXT 4wd.with just over 1,000 miles on it, it a pleasure to drive and lives up to all my expectations.

Sounds like your experience has been bad, hopefully you can turn it around instead of giving up.

We've always had very good Dodge vehicles in our family, and are big Dodge/Chrysler fans.

Sorry to hear about your problems. We have approx. 4000 miles on ours and it has only been in the shop twice. Once for the first oil change and the other for an air conditioning issue. We love this truck!!!! Was driving by some shops with glass windows yesterday and happened to see the trucks reflection. You gotta love the looks of this thing!!!! Almost as fun to drive as the Corvette!!!!
