White Letters on Tires

The great debate in my house, on tires, is it cool to have the white letters facing out.......or in?

I think letters out looks sporty, he thinks it is lame!

Opinions please???
Displaying white letters on tires is old-fashioned and out of vogue. Other than on a classic muscle car, I would recommend the white letters should be on the inside.

IMHO it depends on a couple of things.

The tire and wheel. To have lettering on the R/T's tire would look silly or any any lower profile really. But white lettering on the off road style tires looks good. It somehow breaks up the larger amount of black sidewall.

The type of vehicle. White lettering on a minivan, once again, not cool. But white lettering on a jeep or larger truck looks the part.

And finally, your preference. If you really want white walls on your Dodge Caravan equipped with DVD and rotating chairs and tables all I can say is 'go for it'.

I like the raised white lettering on my past jeeps but they are a pain in the ass to clean.

Now my Nitro has the black wall and I think it is great. My Mercury also has black walls and it looks great on that as well.

I guess it is a personal thing.

I think it depends on the car, When I'm not driving my R/T Nitro with stock blackwalls, I'm driving one of my other cars, one is a 78' silver anniversary Corvette with Goodyear Eagles with large white outlined letters "out".
Mounted on hurricane mags, a true classic.

I like my white letterings out! Im not driving some prissy car, I am driving one that will go from road to sand to mud to whatever. The big WRANGLER on the side of my tires will be there facing out until I have to get new tires, then I might once again get new tires and they too will have the same thing :p

Money talks...

so I say that it depends on the tires. If you dump a couple grand on a sick set of rubber then advertise that fact. If you are just getting something decent then keep it simple and the letters on the inside.

No matter what remember to keep the shiny side up and the rubber down!
