that time of year, was thinkin about looking for someone new, does anyone recomened anywhere?
Hi!

Did you mean "Insurance Companies"? (Was that a typo in the thread title?)

I've been with my car insurance company for close to 20 years or so ... and I get a discount for being a customer for that long. They've done me well ... except for recently dropping their coverage for fixing rock chips in the windshield. (It's covered under my comprehensive now ... AFTER the deductible ... got 2 unfixed chips now, in non-hazardous locations ... they're gonna end up replacing the whole windshield at some point!)

I like going with Gieco because these people don't really ask questions. They just ask you to go to see an adjuster. It hit a dog on the highway doing 65 mph and it smashed up the front end. I took it to an adjuster and he looked every where. I had some damage done to it in the past and he said "I think the dog kicked up some debris causing this damage here, here, here, here, here, here and here." I said "Ok?" Then he told me about a friend of his at a body shop and said to tell him he sent me and I wouldn't have to pay the deductable. Long story short, my truck looked brand spankin new. He said that he has extra money and if I need some work done, bring it back and he'll charge me $5. Good to have friends in high places.

I've read that it is good practice to shop for new insurance every five years. They will low-ball you to get your business and slwoly jack it up year after year without your really seeing it because the value of your vehicle or home is changing. Your vehicle is depreciating while your home is going up in value, but they will keep your vehicle value artificially high. It doesn't hurt to shop around and reset every few years.

In BC we have provincial Government insurance.
I still pay through the nose.
You can get third party beyond the basic, but it still comes out the same for me.
Too much
