So I followed in ata4d's footsteps and ordered a blinglights intake. Difficult is an understatement to the install. The fit is extremely tight and it lies half on the coolant container (unless i did something wrong which i don't think so) Anyway, ran into the problem that everyone seems to with these intakes...no sensor hole. Do I actually need to drill a hole into it for the sensor, or can I let it run without it? I'm driving my car tomorrow morning bright and early so I could use some feedback and quick

never heard of that intake before (did I actually miss something?) but on my AEM Brute Force CAI, the holes for the sensors were already there. They were tight fit though, but the hardest part was getting the sensors out of the stock intake piping without damaging them. KenCary and I did mine, and we had to cut the old intake tube to get the sensor out.

good luck with this one, yes pictures please!

I looked into that intake, but I just don't know enough about the company and the design testing they did.

In the end I went with the CGS intake and although it came without installation instructions :loser1:, we managed to get it installed. I had to actually call CGS Support about the mounting bracket, but he helped me through that while on the phone with him.

I spent $0.73 at Canadian Tire last night and bought a flat washer, lock washer and nut to use the stud it mounts to, and it's completely installed now.

When I was looking into intake brands, I liked both the AEM Brute Force and the K&N but the prices to Canada or in Canada were terrible. Blinglights was much more reasonable, but after reading some reviews on the install, I didn't want the hassles. The CGS intake cost me $192.50 at realtruck.com, they delivered it to a friend in the US, and my hubby picked it up and brought it back with him when he was on his way back from a work trip.

I'm definitely going to go back and check out what you had posted. As for now, I drove it just short of 15 miles to school today and nothing "bad" happened. I simply taped the sensor up with some electrical tape so as to not drop into the fan. No light came up, nor did my car blow up. But like I said I'll definitely check out your pics, etc.

I looked at your post again and I'm pretty sure we have different intakes. It looks to me like you have the new one with the filter inside. I bought this one. I drove some more and still no problems so I may just leave the sensor out. Also for those who wanted pictures, when I get home I'll be sure to upload some

With the sensor out to the airstream, you will not get an error code, but your ignition advance and mixture may be a bit off. You might notice a slight loss of HP or gas mileage.

You need to find some way to get that sensor into the airstream between the filter and the throttle body.

Without the metal enclosure around the air filter (like AEM's) won't you lose air that should go into the intake?

I'm not sure entirely what you mean, but here is a picture of a short ram AEM

I'm not sure what metal enclosure you're talking about unless you're referring to a specific intake of AEM. But otherwise the two intakes, in construction, are nearly identical.

You can see on my AEM Brute Force CAI, there are two sensors, one for temp and one for air flow and the holes were already drilled and ready to install. You know, if price was the primary consideration, then the installation is up to you. I bought a named brand, yes paid more, but it was a snap to install (especially that dang bolt for the surround, right Ken?).
