Hey, I am looking into a Nitro SXT or SLT. I would love an RT but price wise the others are for me.

I have a couple of questions. I can't seem to find any photo's of the rear cargo area, could someone please take some pics of that (and with the seats folded down). I need a work vehicle to haul some stuff around and I want something with good looks, decent MPG and enough room to haul my tools and protect them.

Next, what are some of the big, if any, problems people have seen so far? I do like to accessories my car, make it look good, make it faster, so what options do I have? I haven't been able to find any SLT/SXT exhaust videos, anyone help on that? Also as far as intakes go, are there any Cold Air Intakes, I have only found Short Ram Intakes so far.

So far that's all I am going to ask, I am going to search around the site a little to see if I can find other questions I have, if not, I'll be sure to ask them here.

Hope this is a good forum to be for the Nitro.

Daniel

Welcome NitroBlitz. The SXT is basically the base model. It comes as standard with the black fenders but can be upgraded to colored fenders. 3.7 L engine and wheels of your choice. I have the SXT, but upgraded the wheels, tires, got the tow package, 6 cd changer and sunroof. I am happy with mine, not the best MPG's I admit and the tranny isn't the smoothest I've ever driven. If you can drive it, go for the 6 speed.
You get more options with the SLT, check the dealer or website for more info on that.
Get a nice rug or cover for the trunk as the carpet they use scuffs real easy. For a mid size truck I was impressed by th trunk space, especially with rear and the passenger seats folded down.

Welcome to the forum. If you look around you should be able to find answers to all your questions. I have the SXT with the appearance package. The only thing I would have liked that I couldn't get (that the SLT had) was the stain resistant fabric...

Based on the fenders sticking out a bit more than most cars, what have owners seen chip wise? The plastic fenders of the SXT would be more resistant to that it seems, but I am willing to bet 3M has a protective film for that area.

Welcome to the forum and we'd love to see you become an owner.

The Cago area of the Nitro is quite usable despite the compact outside dimensions of the Nitro.

One nice feature is the ability to fold one rear seat and the front seat to give a full 8 ft to haul 2X4's with the hatch shut.

I Chose the SXT over the the RT and SLT for the following reasons:

1. SXT offers 6-speed Manual tranny (biggest reason)
2. SXT has more scratch-resistant fenders (I occasionally venture off-road)
3. I did not like the 20" low profile tires for off-road/bad road trips-- 17's not available on the R/T
4. I did not like the chrome-clad wheels of the SLT & RT. SXT upgrade 17"s are natural finish alloy.

These of course are my personal reasons, the fun thing about the Nitro is that we have so many choices compared to other SUV's.

Do yourself a favor! I bought a 07 SXT, Silver... loved it! Went in for my first oil change....(bang)... sitting on the showroom floor was a 08 Black R/T (loaded with everything, 3 miles on the odometer) ended up driving it home!!!!! (lost a ton of money in the trade) So, make sure you are going to be happy. I am "now" after an expensive mistake. lol BTW: hello everyone, my first post.
