Ok Nitro guru's.

I would appreciate some help to make the right decisions here. This is what I'm getting for $37900, ($500 above dealer cost?)

2008 Dodge Nitro R/T AWD
4.0L V6 SOHC Engine
5-Speed Auto Transmission
Stone White Clear Coat
Monotone Paint
Leather Trimmed Bucket Seats
Dark Slate Gray
Travel Convenience Group
Rear Seat Video System
Premium Sound Group II
Power Sunroof
ParkSense Rear Park Assist System
MyGIG Multimedia Infotainment w/Nav
Convenience Group

Factory Installed Total: $37900 + taxes/fees etc

Mopar Accessories: (Installed by Dealer)
Wheel Locks - $129.70
Slush Floor Mats - $86.85
Air Deflectors (Sides) - $185.00
Air Deflectors (Rear) - $216.00
Air Deflectors (Front) - $164.50
Bumper Guard Chrome - $547.00
Décor Gas Cap - $100.35
Chrome Door Sill Guards, (if possible illuminated ones!) - $157.70
Chrome Side Steps - $875.00

Mopar Total: $2462.60 + taxes

My question is as follows:

What do you think of the deal?
Is there a cheaper way to do this without sacrificing any quality/warranty issues?

Any other comments/criticisms/concerns are welcome.

Thanks everyone!

In my opinion, you could save at least half on the Mopar stuff, get it on ebay. Everything else looks good, although I would try and get $500.00 or more under dealer cost. Dealer holdbacks and other incentives should get you well under the price you're getting it for.

Looks like you have just about everything covered. Keep in mind they are going to try and sell you an extended warranty for another $1500. In all honesty, I wouldn't pay all that money for air deflectors and stuff. It looks like you could save a few hundred bucks by buying aftermarket stuff that will most likely be better quality. If you really want them to do it you should get them to throw some of that stuff into the deal.
I just included most of that stuff with the build your own on the Dodge website and couldn't get it to $37,000.

Hey Jason, you did a good thing in asking for advice first because as the guys said you can save some decent bucks by getting all your Mopar bits later on. PM Adam at Eastway Chrysler for some great prices as he does discount for members.
It sounds like a nice Nitro, I don't know about the price as I don't follow those but you can always shop around to see if it's comparable to others out there.
Do you have another dealership nearby where you can browse and maybe deal?
You can't go wrong with the R/T. It seems they have the least problems of all the Nitro models.
Anyway good luck with the dealing and I hope you are soon become a Nitro nut like the rest of us here.

I just got a new R/T and bought Mopar wheel locks for $42.00 and the dealer had them put on for nothing. Later a salesman told me they always give and put the locks on for free on any Dodge they sell with chrome 20 inch wheels. Lost $42 but still worth it. Of course they gave me the Nitro R/T for $7700 after Chrysler bought my Nitro SXT Lemon back. After spending $37k for an R/T the dealer should give you the options listed for cost and install them for free.

I'm sort of fresh on this since I just got mine yesterday, but the night before I searched a couple of other dealers inventories in the area and found a comparable Nitro to the one that I was getting. Online inventories usually have cheaper prices especially when you search a dealer that keeps a large stock of vehicles. Anyway, I printed the online window sticker and brought it in. When it came time to negotiate I slapped that on the desk and the salesman was speechless. It definitely helped.

Jason, I'm not sure if you have already placed your order or not, but I just ordered a Nitro the other day. First off, I would agree with the others about getting a lot of the Mopar stuff through E-bay or other online sources.. Just make sure you read the reviews of the seller (do a search here in this forum about each item, and you wll find some good recommendations) As far as the Nitro, what I ordered was almost identical to yours. I ordered
RT 4X4
Inferno Red clear coat
Convenience group
Travel convenience group (that includes tow package)
Leather seats
MyGig/ Nav system
Rear DVD/game system
I did NOT order the sunroof option which you did, an $890 option in US.
but I DID order the Mopar deluxe splash guards and Mopar front air-deflector

Your total for vehicle was 37,900, I assume is Canadian which at current US rate equals
$38,465. What I am paying is $31,426 after "internet discount" and the $795 current incentive on 2008 Nitro's. | am not sure how good/bad of deal I got. I did shop around a bit with local dealers, but here's what I found out... The couple of salespersons I talked with seemed much more interested in selling me the 2007s that were on the lot. They DO have better incentive than the 2008's. After that, they tried to interest me in the 2008s on the lot, but NO dealer within 200 miles of me had a Nitro with all that I wanted. So, when I was "building my own Nitro" on the Dodge website, it gave me the option of getting a quote from a dealer. I did this for the five dealers that are closest to me. One dealer sent me a quick response with a quote. When corresponding their "interenet person", I was told they gave an $2000 discount for internet orders. If you are ordering from the factory like I did, you might check this out. As I said, the local sales people didn't seem like offering me anything beyond the $795 current incentive. I think the $2000 discount from the internet ordering is mainly due to the fact that they are not paying the local salesperson a commission. Maybe someone here could correct me on this, but I thought it was a great deal. btw, the "internet person" was actually on staff at the Dodge dealer only 2 miles from my house, and he was very helpful and friendly when I finally closed the deal over the phone. Good luck in your ordering!

Definitely can get those Mopar parts a lot cheaper on eBay...I got my front and rear window deflectors for $55. ;) You have $2500 in Mopar parts...how would you like to save that? GO TO EBAY!!! :)
Triple, I'm looking to get the front/rear deflectors myself. Do you remember the seller? You've installed already and are happy with them?
TIA

I got my front bug deflector from my dealer and let them install it and I got my rear spoiler from ebay vendor named spoilersolutions. If you get the spoiler from them, make sure you specifiy your paint colour carefully. I had to get mine repainted locally because they sent the wrong colour of blue!

Holy thanks for the tip! I`m completely exhausted from dealing with the different dealers and brokers and all the mind games and strategies from every angle. If they don`t get you on the price, they get you on the accessories, if they don`t get you on the accessories, they get you on the trade-in etc etc.

I took your advice and did just that, except on the Canadian site (www.dodge.ca). I will ask about the Internet discount, and if it is true, then it will be totally worth it.

As an aside, I am taking a local Dealer here in Calgary to small claims court. They took my $1000 deposit after promising me they had found a vehicle that matched my exact specifications except the rear entertainment, but they assured me they could provide the exact functionality aftermarket. They brought the vehicle in, took it for a test drive, then by chance I asked how my wife would control the DVD from the Infotainment centre. The sales rep said she couldn`t, and from there it all went downhill fast.

In alberta there is contract law that states you can cancel a contract within 10 days, I submitted the notice of cancellation and they refuse to give it back, so here we go fighting for our right. :(.

All that to say, it surely is appreciated when someone out there genuinely contributes something to help someone out such as yourself.

Take care,

Jason:smileup:
