I have been thinking the past few days of what the Nitro reminded me of ( at risk of being a hieratic ) and thats the original Jeep Cherokee ( I had 2 new -84 and 86) You cant compare apples to apples as there is 20+ years but the general feel of the truck. I Have fond memories of my 84 Chief. Also my Last ride was a Honda Element which was nick named an "E" , are we driving "N"s ? Naww "NITRO" is better.:Racing:

We've owned three Cherokees over the years, and that was the first thing my wife said when we bought it.
I forgot

:thk: I'm getting old, I forgot the 80s Cherokees were the second incarnation, The original were bigger.
That's exactly what I thought too. The Jeep Cherokee's were a no-nonsense tough vehicle. Many 4x4 of the year awards.
And if I'm not mistaken their engines & running gear were mostly dodge. At least I always had to get dodge parts to fix the jeep.
I get from alot of people that it looks a little like a mini Hummer which I hate since Im not a big Hummer fan. I guess its compliment since the Hummer is a "luxury" vehicle, but I think the Nitro has an identity all its own...besides the cut and paste Dodge grille on every car they make.
They remind me more of many of the boxy WWII trucks, particularly those made by GM... though perhaps a bit smaller and with more chrome...

First thing my sister said was Hummer wannabe. But you're right about the Nitro having its own personality. another sister was on her cell when I pulled in to take her for a ride. She said she told the person she was talking to that I'd pulled in with the nicest looking car she'd ever seen, then she said she thought I was flaunting it. You bet I was. I been driving POS's for years. In between the guilt feelings for buyiong a brand new car I love it.

I got to drive a Hummer years ago BEFORE they were considered luxury vehicles. The original HumV is an awesome vehicle and the ones they sell to the rich and famous nowdays doesn't even compare.
I have been told that it looks like a large PT Cruiser by a few people.
I think it looks like a range rover, hummer, and on the SXT a old WWII army ambulence. My wife thinks it looks kinda like a jeep comander from the back. Now that I think about it it does look sorta like a cherokee. All these machines are good looking so that is OK by me.
My thoughts

I was thinking that from the front it looks like a truck from the 30s, the big fenders, how about tear drop lights on the front fenders? might be a little too much maybe. As they say everything old is new again.
dk1677 I agree with you, especialy in the SXT model. I went out to look after your post. Must be why I like the nitro cause I always liked pre WWII cars.
