Hi Everyone;
I just baught my new Nitro. I got Sunburst Orange. I love my new Nitro. My wife and I fight over who is going to drive. Whenever I buy a new vehicle I have hurdles that I struggle through. I had a hard time getting roof racks. Thule does not make them for the Nitro. I finally got the Dodge Dealer to install the factory ones. They said that this was the first set they ordered. I am trying to haul two 14 ft sit on top plastic kayaks. The factory racks don't spread too far. It looks like my kayaks are going to be sticking way out the back. There appears to be punch outs in the front of the top trim. Is this for a rack or maybe a light bar?

Welcome to the forum.

I have the factory "sport bars" which are the cross bars that you have. As far as I know, these are the only ones that fit the Nitro for sure.

I only use mine for a Ski/snowboard carrier, so I I don't know how far you can spread them. There are however tie down points along the rail and you might be able to put something in there to help stabilize your load.

Just to be safe, I would put a big hunk of foam rubber and I soft towel under the ends of the Kayaks in case they bend down to touch the roof.
