Recently we have done work on a Nitro and we have ran into an issue. We had the battery disconnected for about a week while we were installing air suspension.

Now once we re-connected everything after we were done on the car and the lights start to pulse bright and then dim over and over. If you turn the ignition to the first click they come on and don't pulse and also when you unlock the car they work normal but as soon as you click it to the "on" position with the car running and off it starts. Also the blinker's, winshield wipers and the head light control's don't work. But the windows, horn, AC radio ect work normal. Any ideas??

Welcome UniversalAir, you'll need to wait until one of our tech's reads this, but that sounds like an interesting mod you've done there. Why did you decide to put air suspension on the Nitro? Lets see the finished product..

The problem you are describing is similar to that on 1999-2002 Mercury Cougars. They are plagued by alternator and alternator wiring issues. A good place to start checking would be your charging system.

Have you run through all your fuses I have seen similar problems where there was a burnt fuse, i am talking the big ones probably under the hood, If one of them burn out you sometimes get really strange symptoms. On older cars they are hard to tell because they are dirty but when in doubt get out a fuse tester. I wouldn't think it was the alt. because all you did was disconnect the battery that wouldn't cause it to go. :beerchug:

True, but adding wiring for an air bag suspension may cause an issue.

How was that tied into your existing electrical system anyhow?

Have you contacted the Dodge/Chrysler Tech Support with this question? It would seem to me that the pulsing lights might be a programed signal for an electrical problem and they might know what it means.

I am sorry that I can't offer more help, but I am glad that you are here on our forums and hope you will stay and participate. I live in Big Bear Lake, as you can see in my stats, and own two Nitros. I am very interested in installing an air bag suspension system on my Nitro so I can raise it for taller snow tires in the winter and lower it back to original during the summer months. Please post your address and/or phone number so I can contact you directly.
