So I had the owner of Lineage Motorsport install my headunit today and he showed me this grounding kit that he designed. He patented the kit, and now Greddy and AEM are in production of similar models, he really messed up by not doing an international patent. He explained to me how the newer cars have gotten away from the "drive by wire" type systems, and that the new all electronic systems are not grounded enough....and create lag in the system and lose electric current bc they only ground to 3 spots on the car. He said that by grounding your ride in 5 additional spots (the chassy, transmission, alternator, and 2 other spots) that your car "speaks better" to itself and it improves throttle response, gas mileage. He also added that additional performance upgrades (intake, and exhaust for example) will actually work better, creating more than expected HP, and torque gains. He showed me a honda civic SI dyno with intake, headers and exhaust without the Ground Kit system installed, then showed me the same SI dyno with the ground kit system installed, and the Civic SI netted 27 additional horsepower just from adding the ground kit to his other performance upgrades.

Does anyone know ANYTHING about these grounding systems, and what do you think?!?!

Thanks, JP

PS - he sells the kit for $100, but I found it here on ebay for $30......take a look

Over grounding would definatly not hurt anything. Personally I would do some research first. $40.00 would be pretty cheap to do it yourself but my guess is that you would'nt notice anything. There are more than 3 grounds in a vehicle's electrical system. If you try it, let me know how it turns out.

I checked out theebay ad. I love when people post dyno runs too as it obviously supports their claims, LOL. Look closely at the dyno graph, between the red run and the blue run there were 21 additional dyno pulls. Hmmmm, wonder what they changed during them? Nothing I am sure, just added the grounding kit and ran it for 21 more pulls.

That is interesting... I wouldnt support this product. Although it is relatively inexpensive, I would doubt that you would get any real benefit out of it. All the claims seem to be unrelated.
I do like how they threw in the brighter headlights. Most cars have a closed loop system for the headlights. Tying in an extra ground somewhere will not affect that.
Also, the claim that solder improves current over crimping.... I make my living with electonics... I have never noticed any real difference in current between a good crimp and solder. And I have worked with some really high voltage, high current systems.
My advice: Find a different way to spend the $40. Say, another tank of gas.

grounding

Doesnt really work with new cars. Unless your nitro is stickshift.:Racing: Shifts might feel smoother, but other than that bleh.
You wont tell any difference with automatic cars.

It works good with older cars though.

But try it out
doesnt hurt to try

Oh yeah! if ya wanna save money on that, just buy the 7 or 8 gauge stereo wires!
Just gotta ground it to the valve cover to chasis, coil pack to valve cover, coil pack to neg. bat, neg bat to chasis. I'm sure theres more places to ground but thats all I remember

OK nevermind!!! I noticed when I was taking off the negative terminal the horn would blow off (scared the &^%$^ out of me by the way). I was here laying in bed and sat straight up and said I DIDN'T DISCONNECT THE POSITIVE TERMINAL!!! :thk:So I walked out, disconnected the positive terminal............nothiing.........I took it off again and when I put it back on the horn blew off......I pushed the button to arm the Jeep...and VOILA it worked!! So never the less, I had the crap scared out of me (both thinking that I fried my alarm, and the horn blowing off) and I learned another something about my vehicle. Now this damn grounding kit better work!!! :D:loser1:

This is basically hogwash. Yes bad grounds can cause all sorts of problems but the OEM's are not stupid enough to overlook proper grounding of the systems.

If the grounds were bad enough to cause a 27HP loss the engine would run very rough and may not even start.

I make my living in the DC power world and trust me I know what I am talking about, this is a waste of time.
