I just ordered the Lockpick. I bought the Lockpick, the optional multimedia cable and backup camera. With UPS Ground shipping and a $30 group buy discount the total price was $435.

I will let everyone know how long it takes to arrive, how the install goes and how pleased I am with it overall. If it's as good as what their demo video makes it out to be I'll be very happy.

better yet why hasnt someone already bough one and copied the disc and made it available for download yet??????????
Maybe I'm misinterpreting the quote, but leaving the obvious legal/moral issues of that prospect alone.....

It isn't software on a CD that you install over the MyGig, but it's a separate device that plugs in between MyGig and the vehicle's harness. Without tons of experience in this area, I can only assume that it works by tricking MyGig into thinking the car is parked when it isn't, that VES is installed if it wasn't by the factory, etc. Replicating that would be a much more complicated proposition.

Hmm...I don't know why some of you are having trouble getting replies from the Lockpick people. I had a question about the backup camera and they replied the very next day.

My Lockpick kit has been sitting on my table for about 10 days. I'm waiting for a day off work to install everything. That will probably be Sunday. Although the Lockpick itself takes less than 5 minutes to install the backup camera takes a bit longer and I want to be sure it cannot easily be removed.

The order processing went very fast. I ordered it before I left for work and by the time I got back home there was an email with a tracking # that it was on its way.

well i'm sure lockpick is not legal to begin with. and it is just software on a cd that you install. the harness is for sirius backseat or whatever its called, but you only need to install the cd to be able to play video while driving.

Incorrect. Take a look at the following pics and tell me where you see a CD. This is my Lockpick kit I ordered recently. It includes the Lockpick module, the optional multimedia cable and the backup camera.

There is a LOT more to it than a CD. In fact, there is no CD or any other software that comes with it.

This is a pic of the Lockpick "guts":

Here's a link to the Lockpick website, if anyone want to learn more about it.

Have you bothered to visit their website? It shows in great detail how it is installed, it's functions and has the instructions available for download. As far as being legal, it's legal to manufacture but "your" call as to how you set it!

That little trick works on my mygig as well. I did order the lockpick with media cable as well though. Im adding headrest monitors and a backup camera. Ive heard that little trick doesn't work on all mygig units, just some with certain software installed. Also, for what its worth, ive had great luck getting a hold of Costaltech about lockpick questions. Ever email I send them, they respond to within 24 hours. I ordered my lockpick on wednesday and I got tracking info for it Thursday morning. I should have it monday. Thats pretty fast. Also, Ive emailed NAVtv about a dozen times over the last month with questions about their product. Wont return my emails.

im also looking forward to installing the new v2 version of the lockpick. no longer does it require you to press the power button to toggle the video in motion on or off. All options can now be set with onscreen buttons. It also allows you to add a 2nd camera, for front view, or as a baby cam.

You are apparently one of the few. Just about every car forum I'm on I see complaints about Coastal Tech not responding to emails.

In my case I sent them 6-8 emails one month about a problem I was having with my backup camera I bought from them as part of my $400+ order earlier this year. They never replied.

Coastal Tech seems to eagerly accept your money but they want absolutely nothing to do with a customer after the sale. Good luck getting any customer service from them.

Lockpick install

I got the Lockpick about 6 months ago. The install was very simple and the system work great with it as i have not had any serious problems. It was a good investment as i have the harness to install some aftermarket screens which i have not yet done. I was supposed to post pictures up but i got lazy. I think its the way to go for more A/V installs and DVDs on the go.
