Hi, just wondering if anyone notices that there is a loud ticking coming from the front area of the engine when the vehicle is in park? ie.. it doesn't idle silent.. i asked the dealer and he said it is the air compressor kicking in and out for a/c, but it still bothers me and doesn't sound quite right to me.. anyone else notice this? or have any suggestions?
tks!

hence

I was hearing what may be similar on the second day that I owned mine. My Dad took a listen and told me that it was the lifters. They ended up having to replace that whole half of the engine. I would have them take a look at the lifters right away. I don't know much about cars, but I think that it is a very bad thing. I didn't get my truck back for over 2 weeks. Kind of left a sour taste in my mouth...considering I only had it for 2 days. :-( Now I am hearing a wistle...from where...I have no idea. I just know it makes the noise when I press on the gas. Any thoughts???

I just had mine checked for the 'ticking' sound 900 mi., dealer showed me the problem, I talked of this on another post "Muffler Noise". It's the 'Purge solenoid', it is located next to the battery and makes this ticking sound as the emission debris from the engine evacuate to exhaust system. ALL NORMAL! This is a problem for all models of Chrysler/Dodge they move it to different places under the hood on different models. Next to the battery is the least noisy. Hope this helps

Very normal condition. The older LX models had a tsb to relocate the solenoid.
