Well, got the Magnaflow installed last night. It took me longer to get the stock exhaust out from under the vehicle than it did to put the new one on. I didn't want to cut the stock exhaust so that's why it took me a while to get it out. The new exhaust was easy as hell to put on and it looks and sounds pretty good. My wife just left this morning on a trip to her folks in TN so when she gets back it's off to the dyno to see what, if any gain it picked up. Keep in mind, the stock numbers I posted were 167 rwhp and 176 ftlb tq. Results will be posted when I get them. The next mod will be the headers when this group buy is finalized......................More to follow!

Looking forward to your results. Thanks for taking the time and energy to get the before and after numbers. I want to go with a perf exhaust, and definately have a curiousity in results, from a real forum member! Why did you choose Magnaflow as opoosed to another product, like Flowmaster for example?

No reason in particular that I chose the Magnaflow over any other exhausts. However, based on what folks on here who have the Magnaflow have been saying as well as buddies of mine who have/had Magnaflows on their vehicles have been telling me about, I figured what the heck. I can't imagine that there is any difference, performance wise, between the exhausts that are currently available for the 3.7L. Guess it comes down to personal preference.

Do you have access to a Dyno for free or are you paying for each session?

If you are paying, how much does your shop charge?

See the link below (bottom of page 2) for print-out from the dyno pulls. I haven't had time to get it back to the dyno because I'm getting ready to retire from the military after 20 years and with all I have going on, the Nitro is at the bottom of the list. I've actually been trying to trade it in because my wife and I have grown to hate it. The Nitro's have depreciated so much that we're almost being forced to keep it. I don't plan on putting anymore money into it at this point and I wish now I hadn't spent the money that I did.

Bowhunter,

Wow sorry to hear that you hate your Nitro. I have had many different cars and I just can't wipe off the smile that this one gives me.

The quality of my Nitro is top notch, no real problems, perfect fit and finish and it runs like a swiss watch. My Nitro is light years better than my father-in-laws Honda CRX.

I am also glad that I did not buy the POS Toyota FJ Cruiser.

I hate to tell you, but trading in any new car this soon is a bad financial deal. You are better to keep it.

Hard to imagine it is that bad maybe you can learn to live with it.

sorry to hear you don't like your Nitro. That's not the prevailing attitude for most owners. I hope you enjoy your retirement and find a vehicle that pleases you!

take care!

Keeping this vehicle is going to be the absolute last resort. I don't what other Nitro owners standards are or what other vehicle they've had to compare it to, but this is by far the worst vehicle I have ever owned. Now after owning it for a while I'm beginning to realize how cheaply made this thing really is. The main issue I have with it is described in a previous post that I made ("Way too much driver input"). I know I am going to take a loss on it but the first opportunity I have to trade it, it's gone. The wife and I have extensively test drove the Ford Edge and in my honest opinion, it has the Nitro beat in all categories and will run circles around it. I've tried to learn to like the Nitro but it's just not going to happen. Not looking forward to taking a loss on it but I'm not going to make payments on a vehicle that we hate.

Sorry to hear about your experience and I wish you the best in your retirment. Your input on this forum has been valuable.

No car is right for everyone and competition is what drives innovation. From my posts, you will see that I don't like Toyota, still I would never ask our government to ban the sale of their products. The Japansese competition has helped to improve American cars.

The Edge looks like nice choice. I think Ford makes some great cars and Ford could use the business to help keep some jobs in North America.

If you are forced to keep your Nitro, we are here to help ease your pain by helping if you have questions.
