It seems the fix is out. This is NEW. I am not aware if this is a complete install kit or just a repair kit to supplement an existing installed Mopar remote start.

just had a friends nitro not start but all the lights and such come on. had it towed to nearest dealer and they said it is a chip in the key to chip in the vehicle problem( so I am assumong they mean the VTA is overriding the vehicle start system) they told her it would be 3 weeks to get the part or parts to fix it and they will not give her a loaner car.... is this problem a warranty problem, has anyone heard of a TSB for this problem, I am trying to help her out and also avoid this happening to our Nitro. We had an aftermarket remote start and alarm put in but they still use the chip from the key in the controller.

Alright, if I'm understanding the problem correctly, the dealership doesn't sound like they are confident in what is wrong. So which is it the key or the SKREEM module? If the problem lies with the key, then does the problem exist with both keys? I'm assuming your friends have 2 keys. The StarSCAN will show if the key is valid or invalid for starting the vehicle. If it isn't the keys and it is the SKREEM, there are at least 8 versions that apply to this vehicle and not having any idea which one your friends needs I can't possibly say how long a part would take to get. Sorry.

It appears this would be a warranty issue, unless there are some aftermarket devices that caused the failure. As for the loaner car it seems all dealers handle warranty issues differently. Don't quote me but I thought warranty covered a loaner/rental vehicle for a given number of days. :4-dontknow:

Sorry just posted this on another thred but...I have had issues with the remote start for a year now. It was installed by the dealer and has a second key fob. My problems range from not being able to lock the doors with the key fob, need to stick the key in the ignition, remote start refusing to start, remote start starting, stoppoing, starting stopping, radio staying on and even not starting with the key once. I paid $550 to have it installed and they have "replaced it" 4 times. After the 4th time they told me about the Stop Sale order from Chrysler and that it was a known issue. I have brought in the info NitroTech provided above, and they said that there is nothing they can do. I asked for it to be disconnected and my problems have gone away. It has been 12 months now I have asked for my money back and for it to be removed so I can buy an aftermarket one. The dealer said I would have to go to Chrysler Canada. I emailed Chrysler Canada and they said I need to talk to the dealer!!!!! This has been the most frustrating part of owning the Nitro. I don't care about taking it in or recalls as long as the dealer is cooperative!

The Remote start repair harness is a jumper harness that connects to the SKREEM interface, have they ever put in this repair harness on your remote start? Also, even though Mopar has never said this but I believe the DNA modules prior to the stop sell contributed to the problems you have described. The DNA module is the programming of the remote start so it knows what kind of vehicle its installed in. If your remote start is not up-to-date with the components I've mentioned it will never properly work. Sorry. The remote start is a warrantable item and is covered by your 3/60 km bumper to bumper warranty, but only if your dealer added it to the vehicle options telling Chrysler of the installed Mopar accessory. My suggestion, go to a different dealer. :)

They have never installed the repair harness or changed the DNA module. When I brought in the information to them, I was told that it was not a valid P/N, and they were unable to do anything unless Chrysler Canada sent them a notice. I have since contacted Chrysler and have faxed my Billof Sale and all of the Workorders to the servie manager of Canada. Hopefully this will get me somewhere.

Okay, I don't have remote start but my keyless entry has a very short range ... Most of the time. Of course it works perfectly at the dealership.

Is this a similar issue or should I start a new thread?

I don't want to sound like a tool, but how old are the batteries in the remote? That and the range on my keys is kinda limited. Especially the command start.

On a separate note, my command start has stopped working. The lights flash once...and that is all. I read on the intraweb that I could've put it in to service mode by playing with remote buttons, which is very possible. I just can't figure out how to take it out of service mode. Help would muchly appreciated.

I do not have the remote start, but I do know it will not start if you have a MIL, or any other error in the system.

Just in case anyone is curious, the problem just fixed itself and everything is all fine now. Weird

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but my remote start isn't working and after reading all of this I have a few questions. Everything else works as it should. The lights even blink and the doors lock when activating it, but it just doesn't start.

I have a 2007 R/T Nitro

It has the factory installed remote start.

How do I tell what the part number is?

What is a SKREEM and Where is it?

Is there a way to 'test' the system to see if this Kit is what I need?

Do you think one of these kits will fix my problem?

Thanks in advance for any help. Sorry if this all sounds stupid, but I'm a little Old School and don't know a lot about electronics.

Easiest way to answer most of your questions is to ask your dealer. They can look up your build.
WIN/WCM/SKREEM/SKIM/RKE are all the same thing, it is located in the steering column.

You can still DIY it. But the info you are asking, can be supplied by a dealer.
If that is the issue, then order the part and DIY.
