Just had dealer install remote start..it works sometimes, the keyfab for the unlock works when it feels like it. Went to start it today about 10 feet away wouldn't work...what the heck is the matter.
We took it back once for it and they had no clue:mad:

There have been many discussions on the remote start and the power locks operation. It seems some of the Nitro's with the remote start system have been having problems after the install causing intermitent remote power lock operation. The problem lies with what's called the SKIM interface and the Resistive Ignition Mux Module.

Nitro's that have experienced these problems, find it usually goes away with the remote start removed. Obviously not what a customer wants to hear.

The second part of your question pertaining to the remote start not working all the time, I would recommend the dealer checking the hood switch first. The hood switch has been a common weak component with the remote start systems. If that's not found to be the cause I recommend reprogramming the SKIM interface module.

Hope this helps. Please search the forums.
Excpect my SLT Tuesday afternoon, it is in town and just being detailed. I asked the dealer to install a remote car starter and he said at this point he did not recommend as they were having "software" problems.
Is anyone having problems with remote starts that have been installed by the factory?
Well had the shop unplug the remote start after it being there four times and them having no clue on how to fix it. They called Dodge...they had no idea either. Anyone figure out y this is happening?????
Here is a link to a post that explains another members problems with the remote start. Check it out.

FM Frequency conflict, trash the Mopar System and tell the dealer you want an AutoStart II installed. Once done, you WILL NOT have another problem. i fought with the dealer over this 4 times. Once remove and replaced with an aftermarket, problem solved and love it!

Obviously not, but your dealer should have been aware that all the 2007 Mopar remote start systems have been put on a "stop sell" status and are to be returned to the Chrysler. Sorry to hear about all your grief.
my slt came with the remote start from the dealer. so far it is working like a charm, starts whenever i hit the button twice as long as im in a reasonable distance. longest distance so far was probably 200 feet.

my factory installed remote start works perfect along with the factory installed alarm

definately a nice item to have warm the car in the winter and in the summer i will leave the sunroof at the vent position and turn the A/C on then that way i can get the heat out of the vehicle before i get in (see remote start is not only good for winter time warm ups) :D
this is the deal with my factory remote start. i bought my nitro in september 06 at which i recieved a factory remote start from dodge made for the nitro.now that winter is over i decided to have the dealership install my remote start. they told me that they were advised by dodge that they were not to install those remote starts because they were giving problems. so they installed a aftermarket remote start. which was fine for me as i received a much better one in the end.
remote start

My remote start is factory installed. Works great. I do the same. Like to get in a nice cool car in summer and nice warm car in winter. Love this Nitro
