I'm thinking of buying a toy hauler called the Rebel by Carson 7X14 self contained. Trailer dry weight is about 3000lbs. So with two atv's, water in the tank, Honda generator(3000) and gear I'm thinking the trailer will end up weighing 4100lbs. Just wondering what is the most anyone has pulled with the Nitro. Thanks

hi rico
its an abbey ,7.95m 26ft1" long from hitch to rear and weights 1368kg,3009 pounds unladen, but when loadded up with equipment it will wheight 1600kg or 3500 pounds. i exspect this to be no problem for the nitro as mine is the diesel with loads of torque.
will let you know in the next month.

I posted this in the colour competition a little while back. Mine's a 6 speed and for some reason it is only rated for 3500LBs vrs 5000LBs if it was an auto. Not sure why, but I don't have a problem pulling this.

Black Nitro... Black car trailer.

I've read the rules, and it says if you find the colour in a sign it's worth a bonus point..... How about finding Nitro in a sign?

We shrink fit spindles and shafts at work about twice a year. I'm the only one that drives a vehicle with Brake Controls, so I get elected. My Nitro has no problem pulling the 1000lb trailer and 2500lb tank of Liquid Nitrogen.

I haul water to my country place. I have an 18 ft carhauler that weighs around 1,000 to 1,200 pounds. I hauled my water tank, which holds a little over 300 gallons of water, on the trailer and pulled them both. My Nitro did a great job of pulling it with a minimum of effort. I did find it a little harder to stop without a trailer brake system, like I have on my Ram, but overall it was no problem. I would estimate I was pulling somewhere between 3,500 and 4,000 pounds.

I was so impressed, that as soon as the weather warms here, I plan on trying out my pontoon boat and see how the "True Blue" Nitro does!!!!

I pull a rv at 3750# and when full it is at 5500# and it pulls fine.
That's awesome, my question is. Is this with the 4.0 or a diesel engine?
I have the 4.0 in my Nitro and this is why I want to know how much everyone has pulled.

Have you pulled up any big hill with all that weight. If so, how did it do?
In CA there's big hills going towards Oregon and going down south. Thanks

I will be pulling my Non- Street legal neon to Texas from Southern Cali, 2450lbs with full tank of gas, plus i need to store clothes etc in the car, so probably more like 3200. Then add the trailer and I expect ill be right up on the 5000 limit, will report how it does.

I am looking at buying a travel trailer. DRY weight 4250 lbs. GLVW 5500 lbs. I presently tow a trailer that weighs 4200 fully loaded and have no problem. I can keep up on the interstates at 70 mph and hill climbing is not an issue.
My question is will I have a problem climbing hills with the new trailer. Is the weight going to be an issue. RV dealers will tell you what you want to hear and I can't get a straight answer from Dodge.

I own a 4x4 3.7L 4 speed auto trans Nitro with a trailer towing package

This isn't an answer to your question, but do you use the Tow/Haul button when you tow and if so do you find it helps at all?

you are already pushing the rated tow capacity for the 3.7L engine/tranny pkg.

The Tow/Haul switch takes it out of overdrive. You end up towing in 3rd gear, straight through connection to the rear tires with no slipage because of the load. I do miss my jeep sometime. I could downshift and maintain roughly the same rpms when climbing hills. The Nitro is finicky when towing uphill.

Dodge Canada Just told me I was O.K. today to tow my 4500 lb (loaded) 24ft trailer. There is a 10% fluff factor in the 5000lb limit based on if you tell some they can tow 5000lbs, they will. Reply came from Chrysler engineering
that's great to know pineglade!
