:( I leased my car two months ago. It only has 2400 miles. I was very content with the car. It had minor issues. One concern is that I'm spendng alot of money on gas!!! about 200 a month. The other complaint is the a/c. I think the a/c is not the greatest, but I do live in Miami and it can get pretty hot!!!! The other night, a friend of mine who also has a nitro was telling me how she has had lots of problems with the car. The car shut down completely on her while she was driving and restarted on its own. It has happened to her three times. She has taken the car for service all three times. I was shocked, and thought that perhaps she was not taking proper care of the vehicle. To my surprise and horror, today I was driving down the street, and my nitro totally shut down on me!!!!!It didn't restart by itself. I had to pull to the side and restart my car. It was scary, considering that minutes before I was on a major highway, where if that happens, I don't know what can become of me. I'm really freaking out and already scheduled an appointment to check that out!!I'm soooooo disappointed, I really love my car!!!! The recalls are definetely going to start coming in!!!! Has this happened to anyone else???Please let me know

I just heard on Detroit AM newsradio that Chrysler is recalling Wrangler and Nitro vehicles.

Chrysler Recall
Washington, D.C. -- (AP) - Chrysler said Tuesday it was recalling more than 80,000 2007 Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Nitro sport utility vehicles in the United States because of possible engine stalling.
Chrysler Group, a unit of DaimlerChrysler AG, said the recall would allow dealers to reprogram a power module to remove the potential for a brief interruption of electrical power to the instrument panel and the engine.
The automaker said the power interruption could lead to a short engine stall, but said the engine would immediately restart if the vehicle was in motion.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation into the Wrangler in May after receiving reports of engine stalling. Chrysler said the agency has received about 180 complaints of engine stalling in Wrangler and Nitro vehicles.
There has been one accident linked to the issue, the company said, but no injuries have been reported. Chrysler will notify owners about the recall later this week and the work will be completed at no cost to consumers.

Oh yeah...I was on a freeway in Houston when mine shut down. Dash lights lit up and then the car started back up. Luckily it was very early one morning. I still had to pull over to regain my composure!

The good news is the recall came out today. We have hope! In spite of it, I do love my Nitro.

My life did pass before my eyes! And you are correct...had to sit there a little while. It could, however, have been in rush hour traffic, and I would have been a dark, greasy spot on the freeway!
