Does anyone know if there is a different dash piece for the Nitros with the MyGig system or does it fit in the standard opening? Thanks

It will fit in the dash without modifications and should still use the same mounting points
Darn - I wanted to put a double DIN Tv/Nav unit in there but the opening is too small. I was hoping it was like the Grand Cherokee and had a bigger dash piece as a option.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Thanks
Nope, take a look at the stock setup, the vents are not even an inch to the top and the dash curbs in less then an inch from the bottom too..
Yeah, I was noticing that when I was driving today. Oh well..
Double DIN WILL work:

The Pioneer AVIC-D2.. The Z1 is too expensive right now, but looking at the Z1, I am almost sure Pioneer is making the MyGig for the Nitro....

Thanks for the pics. Is that your Nitro? If so, which dash kit did you use? Thanks again.
I dont care for that install..it doesnt look "integrated" with the rest of the car and thats a big :shakehead: for me..and Ill buy one w/ built in storage the day they support itunes file format
The dash is custom on the sides of the radio, BUT, as soon as they come out with a full surround that is all silver I will replace it with that. We actually have silver spray paint from Dodge that matched perfectly but I was waiting for a dash kit to be made (and it will) to fit. The vehicle is so new it is hard to get anything for it. I am a stickler for OEM looking as well, so a compromise for a month or so is fine for me. OH and the itunes... Not a problem, I have the iPod connector as well....

Yea, but it wastes the hard disk space..Im suprised one isnt available yet...that one probably doesnt control the ipod from the headunit or steering controls though which is a pain too....same with the stock unit
OK,

The Z1 has a 20 GIG hard drive for you to put mp3's on it. My D2 has FULL control over the ipod from the headunit, and we have almost gotten to the point where the sterring wheel controls will toggle the volume up or down and the tunning or FF/RW feature...
Don't you integrate the steering wheel controls with a PAC module just like in a Grand Cherokee? I used one in mine and the steering wheel controls worked great.
What about U-Connect

How do you make u-connect work with an aftermarket H/U? The u-connect button is on the OEM H/U now.
So the My Gig has 20 gigs. Does anyone know how that compares to a video ipod?
You should check out CarAudioExpert.com I saw the AVIC-Z1 for $1579.81 about $500 less than the Pioneer site.....Gman

I just got a video ipod for chistmas. It has 80 gig of memory. I have loaded 15 movies and somewhere around 2100 songs. So far I have used 15 gigs of memory.

I believe it was developed by Harman Kardon

Most of Chryslers stereos are made by Alpine these days.
