Sorry to hear about your disappointment with your Nitro. Welcome to the forum. You're in the right place. How long have you had your Nitro and what are you disappointed with.
Welcome to the site, sorry about your problems. Try posting them in the general discussion thread, or even the Mechanical problems thread. You will get plenty of responses & a lot of helpful info.
hello, the day i bought the nitro the engine light was on, i told them about it and it was off when i left with it.Then it came back on on the way home and went off again. Later I noticed it coming on when passing another vehicle or going up a pretty good grade. One morning started it up and it was spitting and sputtering and would barely idle and 2 lights was on one was like lightening bolt,i got it to dealer they said it needed reprogramed, they did so,i left and it acted up the same way 2 timed before i got home, then i had tow truck come and get it,,they replaced wiring harness, test drove and they said 2 other lights come, then had to talk to engineer.i can't remember what they called it that it needed now,i think it had something to do with the recall, anyway its been in shop since last tuesday,,i'm really disappointed. I don't trust it to go on trip with my kids or anywhere else. If i have one more problem i'm taking it back to them and they can keep i t!!!!!!!! this is not right for a brand new vehicle. anyone else had this problem.

hello. i forgot to tell you i've had my nitro since right before christmas it has only 1600 mi.
Hi, your in good company here. Mine is in the shop for the 8th time and I got it in late Oct. I do like it alot when all is working. Today when I dropped it off it had a list of 7 items to be worked on and told them to keep it until it is the way they would want their new car to be. Keep trying and check for TSB on this site and never take "we can't find anything wrong for an answer".
I think that has to be terribly upsetting... to have that many problems with a brand new vehicle. I think this site is a good place for you to come and vent... and maybe get some ideas. You'll find the people running this site aren't looking for just rah, rah type posts. If they were they wouldn't have all the threads about mechanical or dealer problems. I hope Dodge and it's dealers read our forum to see how they might improve.
All that said the Nitro obviously isn't just a bad vehicle because the vast majority seem to be having a good to great experiance with their Nitro.
The forum is here to help... if the dealer can't get you straight I'd be looking into the "Lemon Law" and try to get another vehicle.

None of that occurred to you during a test drive???
Hi! I just got mine back from the dealership to correct the same issues that you are talking about. Those 2 lights came on in my car when I was 70+ miles away from home on a saturday night with no dodge dealership around or anything even open. I called the dealership on Monday and was told that as long as they went off not to worry but ifthey come back on to bring it in. I was not comfortable with that so I called the Main dodge and was told to do what makes me comfortable so I called the dealership and made an appointment, they reprogramed the computer, which by the way was just replaced 2 weeks ago and it seems ok for now. I also drive my 5 year old around in this peice of junk and am scared to drive it far distances on the weeknds because if it breaks you are screwed until monday morning when the service department opens and you have to pay to stay in a hotel because you are miles away from home. I have now named my car "christine" after the scary movie! LOL I am temped to tell them to kepp it until they fix it to where it whould be running also. I have thought about fileing the lemon law but it looks too much like a pain in the butt to do so in my state. I wish you lots of luck with geting your car fixed. It is sad that when you buy a new car for safety and relaiability and it is far from it and every time you leave your house you are takeing your life and others into your own hands and you are constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop.:shakehead:

McguireV10, could you give a little more detail about your problems, there have been many problems talked about on the forum. But to my knowledge this is the first time sucking has been listed. Not trying to be smart just like to know what your problems are we may have an easy fix for a lot of them.
It's very weird how so many are having great experiances and some others are all the way over to >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> suck.
Is it just a manufacturing hiccup here and there? Is it an isolated run of faulty electrical parts? Is it aliens tampering??? I keep waiting for a problem but so far except for a couple fit & finish trim things... all is well. I know I want everyones NITRO experiance to be a good one... we're kinda in a club together!
thanks,i see im not the only one with that problem..i called this morning, they said got part and put it on which they called "throttle body" or something, they said they drove it twice but wanted to drive it one more time to make sure," bingo" my cell phone rings on my way to town, said same lights came on again,so they have put two parts on it thats not even the problem and still looking for problem...what some crap huh ...by the way they've had it 10 days now

I haven't had problems.

I was quoting what bernie posted because it seems to me a lot of those things should have been immediately apparent from a test drive. I mean the subjective stuff like not liking the heater, or thinking there is too much wind noise.
Oh ok , you get your good guy ribbon back:beerchug:
These kinds of threads are scaring me a tad.

The only thing possibly going is the later builds seem to have a little less problems. I had my built at the end of January so hopefully all the bugs are worked out. Only have around 70 miles on it so far so we will see if anything shows up.

Only problem I have noticed is making myself stick to one channel on SIRIUS since there are so many good ones.

Hope everyone gets their troubles ironed out!
I took one for a test drive before I leased mine. Of course the one they have you test drive was top of the line, they had to go get mine from a dealership 200 miles away from where I live so we never got to test drive this one... I really wish we could have! So far it seems ok, but I do not have my hopes up that it is fixed at all. I tell you, I had it in 1/4/07, 1/24/07 and just this week. We are bringing it in every two weeks I tell you. The guy said the last time it was a computer error and they reset it. They just put a new computer in on 1/24 so how can it be a computer error?
new computer

hello, well called service department this morning, they have ordered new computer for mine, which is on back order,if that tells you anything, i may be without mine another week or two. guess i'll see what happens then:shakehead:

I am convinced as well as my service manger is convinced that my car has a gremlin!!! :i_rolleyes: I have had all kinds of crazy issues. I am going to pick it up today now that they found the issue causing my A/C controls to stop working, intermittently I might add. It was a wire shorting out that caused the problem this time. Before that my windshield wiper motor started to go out which once again intermittently caused my windshield wipers to stop working. Not a good thing when we were getting all kinds of storms last week!! I have also experienced the dash lights all coming on for a second and the speedometer and tachometer going haywire. They never could find the problem with that. It hasn't happened again since I got it back either. I am just waiting for the next thing to go wrong. :shakehead:
First of all I love my new dodge.

Mechanically its fine and I have put 1600 KM on it and not one mchanical issue.

However there are quite a few issues with the way it has been put together.

I have a rear parking sensor which is out of line.

The passenger side sun visor clip is broken and does not hold it in place.

The passenger side door has a cover over a screw which has fallen out.

Just above the glove box it should run in a straight line but mine has a warp in it.

I have reported all these issues and they are awaiting parts to fix. Coming from USA to OZ so god knows when they will get here.

My advice if buying a Dodge is check the trim, I got mine sent over from interstate so I did not have this luxury.
