Ok here you go. This will make your day. There is a way to view video while in motion. Ive tested this on units WITHOUT Navigation. It may work on others as well but im not sure.

1. With the vehicle in park, Insert a movie and press the view video button
2. Once playing, press the audio button to bring up the audio menu.
3. (While in the audio menu) Shift into gear (forward or reverse)
4. Press the Done button to exit the audio menu
5. The system will revert to playing the DVD.

This will work fine to play movies while driving. If you touch the screen or press the Radio/Media button, it will revert back to menu. If you leave it alone it plays along smoothly. Hope you all enjoy,

Yeah, no such luck on the RER versions. There's actually no audio button on the RER versions, since we have the Nav button. I have tried that going through to the audio menu via the softkeys, but it doesn't work.

I'm still waiting for someone much more clever than I am to tweak the software and create a modified update with it... I've currently got four things in mind:

1) Unlock destination entry while in motion.
2) DVD in motion (although I'm usually driving by myself so I can live without it)
3) Ability to modify startup image
4) Ability to access Mplayer for QNX (for watching MPEGs and AVIs on the drive)

This procedure must be a glitch in the mygig software. My be those who have updated their software will not be able to do it. It works great for my REN unit. Its also worked great for two or three other mygig REN units Ive played with.

Hey loismustdie.... (or should I call you stewie? :chuckle:)

You bring up a good point. If you've got that glitch, you should be VERY cautious about updating the unit. As you suggested, it seems likely that subesquent patches have corrected this glitch.

:( didn't work on mine either. On aftermarket radios you have to ground out the parking brake wire, is there something on these that you can ground out to bypass?
No, unfortunately Its controlled by the CANBus so it has nothing to do with the parking brake. Its too bad that not everyone had the same "glitch" that my Mygig has. I'll looke up what version of software I have installed and let you all know.

There is a video clip on YouTube with the same info. Several have tried it with no success. It's only on certain REN units the the high speed bus. As NitroTech has stated we have tried with no success no matter the version number of my unit.

Personally I find the lockpick from coastaletech a far better option!

I got rid of my NAVTV gear a week after i got it.
You must have been using their first version. I recently installed their AllGig USB product and it is great. I am pretty sure that NavTV would have upgraded you for free.

I looked at both AllGig USB and LockPick and I went with AllGig USB because it provided better functionality. You don't have to double click the power button to enable in-motion features and you can update it via USB.

My Nitro has a rear VES and I was able to add an RCA video cable for a rear camera by plugging into the vacant pin 3 and 4 slots of my factory VES harness.
