Thank you for your email regarding the 2007 Dodge Nitro.
DaimlerChrysler has yet to officially announce when the late availability options you are looking for will be made available on the
2007 Dodge Nitro models. We recommend staying in contact with your local Dodge dealership, as they are the best source for the most up-to-date information regarding placing an order as well as product availability.

Yep, Im guessing it wont be until next year or very late this ear..I think I am going to go with a mobile unit that I can remove/hide..maybe even the one in the MOPAR Acessories catalog - much cheaper too!
I originally wasn't interested in the unit, but my wife talked me into it. My order has progresses far enough now that I won't be able get it installed at the factory. But as I think about it more, these are my opinions:
20 gig on the hard drive really isn't that much. A 300 dollar ipod will get you 60 gig of memory. The nav system would be nice, but I would use it only on a rare occasion. The voice command would be a great plus for the uconnect that I had installed. SO for the extra 1500 dollars, I could not really justify it. That being said, If it was available I would still get it because I like toys!
I agree, $1500-1800 is quite high for not so much. The only real advantage to the myGig is it is integrated and OEM. You could easily get just as good/better navigation system for half the price or even cheaper! Youd also be able to remove it and put it in another car or stowe it away to keep it safe. I agree about the ipod too as it is where all my music is - the only disadvantage is the headunit doesnt physically CONTROL the ipod so you have to do all the song changing from the actual ipod instead of the audio controls/head unit..
Yep, that is a downfall of using the ipod. Also, on the 4x4 models, the switch for 4WD takes up half of the little tray the could be used to hold the ipod. The two wheel drive models could hold the ipod nicely in that spot enabling the driver easy access to the ipod control.
Sounds like I'm not the only one thinking along these lines , I got the NavusII for mine will take a pic & post after I pick the N up this coming thursday.itro

Yea, the slot is handy, however defintely want to hide the ipod in the console or one of the "hidden spots"..I might just burn all my itunes music to a cd/dvd instead of hassling w/ the ipod..then I can control the music from the steering wheel! :D

Yep, defintely not! Id like to see pictures of that installed! Did the dealer do this? If not, whered you get it from? A review would be nice too :)
Ordered from dealer & he will have installed ,cked. with dodge & they said the wiring is there in the loom already. Dodge man hour sht. says 1/2 hr. install, 1/2 hr. to calibrate.
Cool! Let us know how it goes and take some pics! :) Im anxious to see that system installed!
Quick Question

Does anyone know what a NavusII is??? I'm assuming it is a GPS unit. Tried to google it to no avail.

Yep, its a Dodge/Mopar portable GPS system you can get dealer installed for around $900. You can find it b looking on page 12 of the Accessories catalog mentioned in this post: http://www.nitroforumz.com/showthread.php?t=83

I tried out the navus II about a month ago in a 300 at the dealer and it worked well enough for me. Main reason I decided not to wait for the mygig.
The Navus 2 is a GPS navigation system but uses a compact flash card instead of a cd or dvd such as the in dash unit uses. Another feature is the voice prompts and touch screen controls. Its not a bad unit for the price if you compare it to the in-dash navigation.

Interesting....I freaking love GPS units for some reason. Do you happen to know who is the map provider for the Navus 2? I'm guessing it's either TeleAtlas or Navteq....
To be honest I will be able to answer that question on Thursday after I pick up the Nitro.

The Navus 2 is made by Garmin in parternship with MOPAR, Garmin uses their own maps as far as i know :)
I Think you are right , everytime I try to google it up I get either Mopar site or Garmin site.

Thanks :) you actually just answered my question. I used to have a Garmin Streetpolit C340. Garmin maps are provided by Navteq. the Garmin is legit.
