I have a 4x4 2011 dodge nitro heat with the 3.7l v6 and it started having problems, ran with a miss that we couldn't fix, one day it just wouldn't start up and we couldn't figure it out, we've taken the heads off the found that a valve seat has dropped and scored the top of the piston, also a rocker arm (I think) was disconnected just sitting there. My question is would I need to send the heads off to be redone and a new piston or is this something that calls for a total rebuild, I miss driving the thing it was my highschool car and any help or advise would be much appreciated. Thank you!!

Honestly I would rebuild it while you have it out case it has to come out fix the piston but you will need to send your head off to get redone

How many miles on the car?

Heads are already off, if over 150k miles, ya, get new valve job, etc.

Scoring top of piston...depends how bad it is. If just a light scratch, just run with it.

But maybe bolt the head back on w/the rocker arm fixed and run a compression test.
