Got the radio out and the u-connect box in and all wires (mic) ran and hidden.

What I am not sure of now is the radio has two plug in's. I assume one is for the regular radio stuff (large one). i.e. speaker wires, power, ground,etc. Then there is a smaller plug in. I ASSUME this is for the steering wheel radio controls. The u-connect wire harness also has a small plug in. This is suppose to go in the back of the radio also. If I do this, I assume I will be loosing the radio controls on the steering wheel.

Does anyone have any insite on this. Are there two different u-connect wireing harnesses?

I plugged in the radio real quick. The steering wheel radio controls work with out the factory wireing harness pluged in. I still don't know what the wires are for though.

Is this the answer you're looking for? Disconnect OEM Radio C1/10 way connector and tape back to harness. Install MOPAR 10 connector.

One more question for Master Yoda.

I have read on the board that the instrucitons that came with the u-connect for the StarSCAN tool is incorrect. Is this right or is the tech person just brain dead that tried it?

I have taken pictures all along the removal and install proccess. I will be writting up a how to for everyone else.

With your Nitro it has what's called a "build configuration" so when an accessory like Hand's Free U-Connect is added that module is added to the Network via the StarSCAN. Even though the HFM is a slave to the RADIO module the BUS network needs to see it for proper function.

So we just had a StarSCAN update and if the feature to enable the U-connect is not there or it's not in the "build configuration" then it won't be activated. Some calls will have to be made to Chrysler tech support. I'll see if I can dig up some info. I haven't installed one so it might be a long shot. :shakehead:
