Hmm... this is the first web site that I find that offers Front and rear seat covers for our Dodge Nitros...

http://www.shearcomfort.com/

Finally!

Anyways wondering if Neoprene Seat Covers are good to go. Total cost for front and rears is $514 bucks.... hmm... kinda high there but worth it to protect the seats?

what do you guys think?

If I'm not mistaken, BlueJet has these already. Check her picture gallery and use the search feature, I'm sure you will find more info.

I got my wife a set of neoprene covers for the front seats in her crew cab truck. She says they stink -literally- and she hates the smell. . . but we paid way too much for them to throw them out. She put air freshener in there to counter the smell, but when she turns on the heater she says it still smells like burnt erasers.

If you have seat heaters and you put them over the leather and then use the heaters, I expect they could drive you out of the vehicle.

I am curious, why are you trying to protect the factory leather seats? I don't find them all that special considering the leather stretches easily. If you trade your Nitro in the next 5 years, you are likely not to get any more for trade if your seats look perfect or not. There is also the danger of placing a seat cover over the leather seat and permanently marking the surface of the leather with the seams on the backside of the new seat covers. There is very little danger of this over factory cloth seats, but leather is a completely different animal.

If you are looking to change the color of your seats or make your seats waterproof, then that is an entirely different matter. That becomes a matter of preference or need and not necessarily one of protecting the original cover. We bought the ones for my wife's truck to change the color and texture of the seat. The factory cloth covers were very rough and hard to clean. The neoprene is very easy to clean and looks great. They are just real stinkers. You have got to do what makes you happy. For what it is worth, that is not a bad price for a full set of front and rear covers.

500 bucks is way a lot for these. I hate dealer installed Leathers seats (OEM cloth removed) for only around 800.00 and these are all leather, front, back and sides.

If it were me, I'd pop for another 300-400 and get Leather.

They also make a neprene-look seat that is nylon or something. The cost much less than real Neoprene and probably don't smell like an old wetsuit.

I think coverking makes them. I have seen them on J C Whitney.

I like my leather seats... looks great and feels nice. The only thing that makes me mad is my driver seat looks like crap. The bulging in the middle and yeah the stretching/cracking. The other seats are fine, just the drivers seat. I hope the dealer can replace the seat, really hate to deal with them though. If they can I prob go ahead and get the covers.

Question for KenCary... How does your leather seats? Any problems with them yet? stretching/cracking? etc.... I like how they look, but not sure if I want to stay with leather though.

Now I find someone that is selling the dodge nitro cloth seats (front and rear, the whole seats not just the covers) with red inserts for $374. The same seats on Dodge Nitro's webpage. I can get those and replace the whole thing but worried because they are used and not sure on the condition. But lets says everything is good and I do it, Ill lose my heat warmers. Not really a big deal because I live in Texas but be nice if I can keep them...

My seats are the high end (perforated seating area) Katzkin aftermarket covers.

I picked out each color for the 2-tone seats out of a choice of what seemed like hundreds of swatches with different colors and textures. This is a semi-custom process. Some choices cost more than others.

These seats are leather on the sides and back, I think the OEM ones have vinyl on the back and sides. The leather feels thicker than the OEM but I can say exactly how they differ from OEM.

If you are having problems with the OEM seats, maybe your dealer can cut you a deal on the Katzkin seats if he sells them as a dealer-intalled option.

I agree with Ken. I know that you can get the exact same R/T stitching on Katzkin covers. If you are OK with the color that you have, you could just have the front two seats recovered in a color matched leather and don't do anything with the rear seat. Save some money. You could probably feel the difference in quality (we sure hope so), but you most likely wouldn't be able to see the difference.

If the dealership refuses to work with you, you can get the same thing done at a local automotive upholstery shop. The dealership contacts with Katzkin may be less expensive.

At one time, there were links on the Dodge web site for Katzkin interiors. I don't find those today.

Is there really a need for seat covers with yes seats? That is one thing I am looking at right now and one thing that is pushing me away from the SXT, because apparently the SXT seats get water stains very easy? The yes seats are resistent to water ect right? I will be entering the vehicle alot when I am a little wet (I surf) and the yes seats sound pretty good, do they perform as their advertised?

I would not base your trim level selection on the seats. If you really want the yes cloth, your dealer can oreder this as a part and arrange to have it installed, or as in my case go with leather.

In any case I realy can't see sitting in any nice car with a sandy wetsuit. Use a towel, an old blanket. There are dozens of temporary seat protectors for this very purpose. I use one when my sweaty son comes in the nitro after a hockey game.

I def put down a towel but every so often some water could get on the seats, which in past vehicles I never had a problem with. However I was reading through a thread where there were complaints of water actually staining the seats. I didnt just base it on the seats, its only $807 more for the SLT which also includes, the fancy wheel & info display, auto dimming mirror, heated mirrors, and load and go. After months of research, I will see this Monday, thats when I am going to the dealer to finally see what I can find and work out.

My whole deal was through the dealer, but the install of the seats was done at a local Katzkin dealer. The dealer will take care of all issues with the seat as part of the car warranty, but the seat installer also will let me go directly to him for any issues.

My Dodge dealer had arrangements with 2 subcontractors. Try a google search for Katzkin in your area and you'll probably find dealers.
