Well Everyone Ive Have Been Here A Few Weeks And Read Just About All The Posts Here And Ive Come To The Conclusion That Unless U Have The R/t U Just Dont Know What A Nitro Really Is.
Dont Get Me Wrong The Sxt And Slt Are Very Nice But I Havnt Heard Of Any R/t Problems Like The Others And I Havnt Heard Any Complaints From Any R/t Owners About The Power Of The Engine, The Feel Of The Ride, Or Really Anything.
Bottom Line If U Hate Ur Nitro Go Drive The R/t And Kick Yourself In The But For Not Getting It, Second If U Are Buying A Nitro (spend The Extra Money For The R/t They Are Night And Day From The Others Models) I Promise U Will Be Very Happy With Your Decision,

Just Broke 1000 Miles On Ours And It Gets Better Every Day, That Car Makes Me Feels 16 Again, My Wife Loves Her Nitro So Much I Only Get To Drive At Night When She Gets Home, Or On The Weekends, I Dont Give Up The Keys On The Weekends (it Mine On Sat And Sun All Mine)

Yea, I think your way off base here. I have the measley SLT & can't understand how people can say it's slow & gutless. Coming from a Dodge 5.2 liter, it has as much giddyup as my Dakota. It's only stalled once on me in over 8000 miles. And has a very minor transmission vibration. People compliment me all the time on it. And it pulls the he11 out of my ATV & boat trailer without any problems.

Those who have a Nitro are the winners, any flavor

I have to agree (somewhat) with Gazoo. Everybody has an opinion. Here's mine, if anybody cares:

I think that a statement like: "spend The Extra Money For The R/t They Are Night And Day From The Others Models" is wildly inaccurate. A Nitro and an Envoy are night and day, a Nitro and a Exploder (explorer) are night and day, but to say the different flavors of Nitro are night and day is a HUGE stretch. I have checking out this forum for about a month now, and it seems to me that the majority of owners ABSOLUTELY LOVE their rides, no matter if SXT, SLT, or R/t, even with whatever annoyances there might be. Overall, I think the majority of R/t owners on this forum definately like their rides, but 99/100 of them aren't going about trashing their Nitro brothers or sisters just because their happen to be driving the model that is top of it's class.
I've recently heard someone say that the only SUV to drive is a Land Rover Range Rover, and that all others are crap, but I think that perhaps he has had too much Pepsi or coke. Why not just be happy that there have been some very kind souls that have taken the time and effort to put together a forum as well-rounded and helpful as this one, and leave it at that. Perhaps this forum isn't the place for the "mine is bigger than yours" mentality.

That's all I've got to say about that. Life is like a box of chocolates, Forrest.

taken wrong way

ok guys u all have taken this comment the wrong way, i just meant for all the un happy owners or people making the decision nothing about mine is better than yours.
try the R/T and there is a big diiference no matter what u all say i test drove every model and each one had its own personality but the R/T had the personality of all the above.
yes the 3.7 is great and has power but the 4.0 has a mean roar about it, and as for the small penis thing this is my wifes R/T numb nuts. and if the lady says the other models are more girly then ha thats coming from the women mouth itself, she wanted the full package, (Penis and all)

I test drove all three models.
Yeh the RT had a bit more power but it's a mid size SUV not a roadster were driving so the extra power, handling etc for the average person doesn't really warrant the extra money.
I prefered the SLT model I test drove but seeing as the Nitro was a replacement for the wifes Grand Caravan, I let her pick which one she liked the best. She liked the contrast of grey and Orange and the rest is history.
Apart from the dealership messing up my bug deflector, the Nitro has been faultless.

Let's Stick together my Nitro Brethren..

Let me say that I am a proud RT owner, but more importantly, I am a PROUD DODGE Nitro owner as we all are. As such, we are in a special group of people. No matter if you have an SLT or an SXT, the Nitro is a thing of beauty.

The RT has a sports suspension and a bigger engine, but no one other than a fellow Nitro owner really can tell any difference. I spent the "extra" $$$ on the RT after doing my research, and yes it is true that I have rarely heard any complaints about the RT, but to down someone else who has made a different choice is a NO-GO!!!

Now, let's continue on with the positivity!! NITRO's 4evah!!!

At the end of they day you're still driving an automatic. I wouldn't want to sacrifice a little more horsepower for the control and fun of driving a 6-speed manual. JMO but I drove both and don't regret anything. Besides, you can do quite a bit to get the SXT up to 260hp... you can't make your R/T a 6-speed - easily, at least.

In reading and learning and seeing the articles written about the Nitro I really do agree with the Poster.

1. The R/T has a much more refined motor, the motor has provide smooth acceleration and plenty of passing power to move this thing off the line, the Drive(or fly) by wire was also something I didn't know it had at first.
2. The R/T transmission is night and day from the SXT/SLT, and is in alot of other Chrysler vehicles with alot more power, it's a proven tranny, Mercedes design, Chrysler built.
3. The sport suspension is still a little bouncy, but it's about where I'd think the vehicle would be at, I've been questioning the eibach suspension and looking into other tires, but everything seems fine now.
4. The steering is still sloppy across the board, I don't understand it.. I've gotten used to it, its just kinda fun now.. :)

Other than that, I got a used(3300 miles) R/T 2WD and it was just a no brainer to take it if I liked it over getting an SLT, that was my position.

I always think dealers should make one loaded version of the vehicle, order a ton of them from the supplier and put one into everycar. I'm sure bose/infinity wouldnt mind every car having an infiniti logo in EVERY CAR.

Mind you, I have not have had any issue (other than the finishing quality not quite up to par with the Japanese, and the cost saving measures with conversion to right hand drive) with my Aust SXT version (2.8 turbo CRD 5-speed auto)

The thing to remember

The thing to remember is that we are all part of a unique club. We all have Nitro's no matter if they are the sxt, slt or the R/T. You have to remember that some of us out there cant afford the higher models, but that does not mean we made a wrong choice. All I am saying that no one here is better than the other because of the model they drive.

We are a community because we all own, lease or whatever have you, But we all have the NITRO.

So lets all just get along and play well together that is what makes this the best damn site on the internet........

So is the decision to buy the "higher model" driven by the fact that you want people to know you can afford it? Price had nothing to do with my decision. If the retards had decided to offer the R/T in a 6 speed manual that's what I would be driving.

I test drove the high end, loaded, all bells and whistles model FIRST, with the salesman next to me just chattering away about the GPS, the radio system, the bigger wheels, the load and go, etc........then I drove MINE, which is a baseline model, BUT it had the 6 speed manual transmission that I wanted.......there was no discussion after that - I got exactly what "I" wanted and it had nothing to do with being able to afford 'more'.......I think having model choices keeps things interesting - I'm too 'old' to appreciate all those techno gadgets and big flashy wheels........I wanted the pep/control of the 6 speed and unless you are a Nitro SUPERFAN, when I'm out on the road, those exta's are lost on the general public, and my Nitro still turns heads and gets noticed :D.......and while the loaded options are lost on me personally - "I" notice you guys out there driving the bling bling model - have fun!!!

Actually me too.... well that and if they had made them readily available without all of the ordering glitches and lack of RT's they actually had available on the lots in Calgary. :shakehead:

You're entitled to your opinion as am I.....

My opinion is that the RT version is the small penis version

:thk:Hey I resent this comment. I agree we are all owners of unique vehicles no matter what the trim level. If need be I can send a picture to prove this statement false, LOL!
I/we bought the R/T for many reasons, including the extra horsepower and torque added at such a low price difference in comparison to other vehicles. Besides the R/T designation is just plain cool although it doesn't mean a whole lot in the Nitro...it is after all what we preferred. I didn't even consider the six speed due to difficulties with a weak leg after 5 back surgeries or I would have the standard. As we all know the 5 speed autostick is a wonderful new transmission which shifts up and down manually at the flick of the shifter...just watch the rev's until you are used to it and wait till it;s broken in a little.
I have the same setup in my '05 Crossfire and I just love it! (by the way, talk about night and day driving characteristics)
So let's put an end to the debate over who's is bigger, it's simply not why we are all reading and watching these posts:rolleyes:!

yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's our job to not take that personally, and enjoy our Nitro's and enjoy the forum. We have a wonderful group of members, growing daily, we should be proud of what we have built here!

I know I do!
