Hello. I have had my Nitro for approximately 3 months. Love the vehicle. Just want to know, has anyone else had a problem with the airbag system light being on? I have had it in the dealship for service three times. As a matter of fact it is there now and I am driving a rental.

hey jmay, welcome my texas brother. I had an issue w/ my passenger airbag, basically 'cause I'm an airhead....the passenger side airbag is sensored and if the weight in the seat is not 95lbs or more the system will disable it thinking it is a small child it is a safety precaution. I found this out because I was putting my purse and gym bag there every morning and the light would come on. my hubby said I was crazy because it never did it when we were together....duh, cause my big butt is more than 95 lbs. the service dept told me that....felt like an idiot....hope that helps, if not I hope your issue gets resolved quick.

I thought that might be the problem at first since I also put my gymbag, purse, etc. in the passenger seat and even asked the dealership if I was causing the problem. The light I mean is the one on the dash rather than the one in the console. As a matter of fact the light in the console has never come on even with my junk in the seat. I certainly hope they get it fixed soon. I really love the car otherwise.

Confusion

Sorry. Didn't mean to confuse anyone. Girl is correct. Live close to the Houston area. My Nitro is still in the shop. They say that now the light is just flickering and they can't get it to stay on long enough to get a reading. Manufacturer told them to keep it a bit longer and try to get a reading.

I wonder how long they think it is reasonable to keep it before they come up with something besides "driving it around intermintently to get the light to stay on long enough to throw a code."

Glad to have you on the forum, and welcome to another Texan (I live in NC but I graduated from Norht Garland High back in the stone ages.
