I bought an Inferno Red Nitro R/T February 5. I am awaiting personalized plates - NITRORT. I have not yet had the opportunity to take an extended drive in the Nitro, which has gone only 300 miles. I have driven to Chico, CA, twice - about 25 miles from my home - and the balance of the mileage is city driving. I am averaging 16.2 mpg for that 300 miles.

I am very pleased with the Nitro!

Welcome to the best forum on the internet. I used to vacation each year in Whiskeytown with the kids. I loved it there, the water was so clear and cold. Oh well, you should be getting better gas mileage once the engine breaks in. Happy motoring and play nice..Joe

Thank you. Whiskeytown is very near here - about 90 minutes away. I have not been there in several years, so it would be a good place to visit and put some highway miles on my new Nitro. The gas mileage average was over 19 mpg following my two trips to Chico but has dropped significantly with city driving since then. Considering the mileage is just over 300 miles, and only about 125 of that is highway driving, I am pleased with the gas mileage. I sold a 1987 Dodge Ramcharger with a custom 360cid high-performance engine prior to buying the Nitro. The Ramcharger averaged about 5 mpg city and 8 mpg highway, so the Nitro is really economical, by comparison! - David
