Hey guys,

Just got my silver R/T a few days ago, been calling around all the dealerships and scored one literally 'just off the truck' with every option installed.

I'm absolutely enjoying it, rides wonderful and plenty of power and creature comforts.

I have a few questions/observations though, and I hope some of y'all could shed some light on these.

1) This is probably in the category of 'have to get used to it' but I seem to always put the high beams on when I signal for a right turn, very annoying. I'm wondering if anyone else does this, the switch seems to require the slightest pull to put the high beams on.

2) Driver side window seems to hesitate going up if the engine is off. I have no problems if the engine is running, but I have to pull the switch a few times to get the window up if the engine is off.

3) Gas pedal is too far back for my taste. Anyone use a custom pedal?, I guess it would at least bring it an inch or so forward.

4) Occasional hessitation when accelerating from a stop. Only have 140 miles on it, and it could be related to #3 above (not pressing as hard as I think I am). I'll have to see if this improves.

5) The MyGig screen goes dark when I turn the headlights on, is there any way to disable this?

All in all though, i'm very very happy with the 'Silver Ghost', even considering the 3k the dealer slapped onto the price because its 'hot' right now.

I promised myself I wouldn't mod it out like I did with my PT (whipple s/c, comp upgrade, crane cams, functional ram air hood, functional side pipes, etc..), but I feel the itch to do some minor mods....

If you guys could chime in on what you think about these i'd appreciate it.

1) Air intake, K&N of course, but I haven't seen any discussion of the FIPK kit, does it exist yet?

2) Exhaust, i'm hesitant on this, my PT was loud and at first I liked it, but after a while it really was annoying, right now i'm lovin' the subtle yet strong exhaust sound I have , but I would like some extra umph if I can get it. Also, i've read some possible warranty issues, any thoughts on this?

3) Haven't seen any mention of these on the forums here, but i'd like to tighten up the suspension a bit, with strut tower bars ,anyone install them or even find any yet?

4) This is a minor one, but I find the armrest a bit hard, any aftermarket ones out there, or any mods that I can do? perhaps removing it and putting more batting in?

5) Armor.. I'm going to get one of those hitch steps for the rear, all chrome, should look nice and provide some protection in the back. For the front however, is there anything 'subtle' like that. I've seen the weston one but it's too overpowering for my tastes, i'd like just a simple chrome bar low in the front but I haven't found anything yet.

6) Mud flaps, sill protectors, weathervents, any dash covers out?

Sorry for the very long post, but I really can't help myself when I talk about my Nitro. Hey, any recomendations for a leather protector? I use mothers on the outside, kind've lost when it comes to interior protection.

Thanks everyone, i've lurked here for a day or so and y'all seem to be helpful and quite knowledgable, I hope to contribute as well!

Dash Mat

6) Mud flaps, sill protectors, weathervents, any dash covers out?
Norm
Norm, I bought a Dash Mat from http://www.autoanything.com/dash-mats/20A10025A1.aspx. It looks great and fits perfectly. I have not found a methodology for affixing the Velcro to the dash, however. I prepped the dash first, and the sticky side of the Velcro would not attach. I tried double-sided tape attached first to the Velcro then to the dash. It did not adhere much better than the Velcro. I have considered using silicone gel to attach the Velcro tabs to the dash but am concerned that the silicone may damage the dash.

If you purchase a Dash Mat and are successful affixing it, please share the means by which you did this. Thank you.

For leather protection I use Armor All Leather Care Gel. It's the only Armor All product I'll use, and it has done a wonderful job in my Viper and the Mercedes (our Nitro has cloth seats). Not greasy, goes on and wipes in very easily, and does a great job cleaning when necessary.

It comes in a weird looking brown bottle. I ordered mine online somewhere, but I've seen it in places like Autozone recently.

I've gone through a bunch of other products, but I keep coming back to this stuff -- and now we have quite a bit of high-end leather furniture in the house, too, so the relatively low price of this product is a nice bonus.

I hope i'm reading this wrong and you didnt really spend $3000 more than the MSRP because he told you it was "hot" right now. if that was the case you got ripped off. i would have laughed at him and went on to the next dealer.

First time I have heard this one. I don't have any problem with mine.

2) Driver side window seems to hesitate going up if the engine is off. I have no problems if the engine is running, but I have to pull the switch a few times to get the window up if the engine is off.

Go to the fuse box under your hood. Wiggle fuse M26 back and forth in the holder 6 - 8 times, then make sure it is pushed in all the way. Your window will now work fine.

3) Gas pedal is too far back for my taste. Anyone use a custom pedal?, I guess it would at least bring it an inch or so forward.

Are you saying it is too close to the seat, or not close enough. You will probably have to mod it to fit your taste.

4) Occasional hessitation when accelerating from a stop. Only have 140 miles on it, and it could be related to #3 above (not pressing as hard as I think I am). I'll have to see if this improves.

Is this directly related to 3) above? Are you having trouble pressing the pedal down? There is a little more pressure needed on this drive by wire throttle than the old cable linkage type. Be a bit more firm with it when you first depress the pedal. You will get used to this.

5) The MyGig screen goes dark when I turn the headlights on, is there any way to disable this?

Turn up your dash lights.

1) Air intake, K&N of course, but I haven't seen any discussion of the FIPK kit, does it exist yet?

No FIPK from K&N as yet. MOPAR will have one sooner, but it will be expensive. I tried a K&N cone on my R/T. Gas mileage dropped. Others have used the K&N drop-in on the R/T with decent results.

I put a Flowmaster on mine, with dual tailpipes. A more mellow muffler would be quiet enough. The sound on mine doesn't bother me at all.

3) Haven't seen any mention of these on the forums here, but i'd like to tighten up the suspension a bit, with strut tower bars ,anyone install them or even find any yet?

Can't help with this one. Haven't seen anything.

4) This is a minor one, but I find the armrest a bit hard, any aftermarket ones out there, or any mods that I can do? perhaps removing it and putting more batting in?

Nothing that I know of. This hasn't been discussed at all before.

I am the one with the Westin Bull Bar. I don't know of anything along the lines you have described.

6) Mud flaps, sill protectors, weathervents, any dash covers out?

Moparpartusa.com they are discounted there.
By the way, congrats on the purchase, no matter what you paid, and welcome to the forum.

Actually I should have been more specific on the price..

I had a DCID# (friends and family discount code) I wanted to use, but the dealer wouldn't allow me to use it on the only R/T with MyGig he had in. In the end I paid a tad bit less than 34k, about 3k more than I was expecting to pay.

As far as the other issues..

I was able to fix the window problem by jiggling the fuse a few times, thanks HighVoltageNitro.

I purchased some of that ArmorAll leather Gel, it seems to work quite nice, thanks McGuireV10. I also ordered a dash mat, just hope I dont have any problems attaching it, thanks David.

For the MyGig brightness I found a menu setting for daytime/automatic/nightime color scheme, adjusting this to daytime fixed the brightness issue I had.

I'm pretty much used to the pedals now, for a while it was literally hit or miss with the brakes though

Thanks everyone for the help.
