Hi Nitro pplz!

I bought a new Nitro 4.0 R/T in May 2007 & it is in my local Dodge Dealer now!

Last week the turn signals & wiper/light stalks stopped working!

My dealer says they have changed the main ECU & looked at multiple wiring diagrams but cannot fix the problem.

They are making a call to Chrysler tomorrow, to speak to their 'experts'

Any ideas?

Thanks

BTW .... how do I post a picture of my Nitro on here?

Hello and welcome jvw1966, :wavey: to the best forum on the net.
Sorry about the issues with your ride. :Racing:
I think I saw something about the turn fob not working in a post a while back. If I remember correctly they had the fob replaced and the issue was fixed. Hopefully you will have some good news from your dealer in the AM.
Enjoy the forum.

Welcome my British American friend. Glad to have you on our great forum. I myself am not a guy who could help you or you would want to help you with anything electrical. I myself am all about the appearance. If you want to know how to make it pretty and shiny let me know.

Welcome to the forum jvw1966. Hopefully your dealer can figure out what's wrong with your Nitro. That's got to be frustrating for you.

In the meantime, enjoy the site. Theres a lot of good information and some very friendly people here.

Are you planning to do any mods to your Nitro once you get it back? Post some more pics when you can and join in the fray. But most of all, enjoy your ride.

Welcome to the forum, but sorry to hear about your electrical issue.

These cars are controled by a CANBUS system that has where the switches turn on high-low resistors that send signals to a central electical control module. This module(I forget the exact acroynym but someone will reply with the name) is separate from the engine computer.

Your problem lies in either the switch, the harness or this central electical control module (assuming that the wiper motor runs when jumpered to the battery directly)

I bet it turns out to be a ground issue. These things have been plagued with them. There was a post on another Nitro forum a while back about an issue just like this. The fix was something in either the drivers kick panel or door connector. Either a bad connection at one of the connector packs or a bad ground wire directly.

Good luck with your dealer.

Well peeps .... I finally got my Nitro fixed!

My local 'Dodgey' dealer (I say dodgey because they are sneaky & lie & fluff & all the other negative stuff!) at first told me it was a faulty EMU/ECU thingy ..... but it was not, after my Nitro was in their shop for 3 days!
Then they said they didn't know what it was & they had to get 'expert' advice from Dodge .... is this dealer not supposed to employ experts relative to Dodge problems?
Then, after I suggested they change the stalk unit around the steering column (using one from another Nitro in their inventory), the problem was fixed ...... kinda sorta!

When I picked my Nitro up it was raining ..... HARD! ..... so I used the wipers, which worked great! Yipee! Then it started to storm & I went to turrn on my front driving lamps (I have an R/T!) ..... but when I pulled on the stalk nothing happened!

..... Because the bozos at my 'dodgey' dealer had put on a stalk from a base model!
Duh!!!

So, back to the dealer I went & demanded they take a unit from an R/T Nitro this time ..... which they did & is now working perfectamundo ;-)

Oh, and as a aside 'story' ..... when I took my Nitro in the first time I also booked a 25,000 service. When they messed me around waiting for 4 hours & did not even LOOK at my car I got my keys back & told them I had to go to work & would book it in again.
Well, I took my Nitro to another dealer for the service before I took it back to my local dealer for the electrical issue again. When I booked it in the second time I did not mention the service ...... but they did it anyway & wanted to charge me for it!

So, my Nitro got TWO 25,000 mile services in one week! LOL ;-)

Oh, and I did NOT pay for the second one! And the electrical work was warrantied.

Phew!
