hello everyone. I’m new to the nitro forums. I recently bought a new to me 07 Dodge Nitro. Have noticed that I’m having a few different issues with the nitro that I did not notice before purchasing. Such as headlights coming on By their selves, doors unlocking by there self even after You just locked them. Thinking maybe it is a computer issue. But not sure. Anyone else having issues like that?

Hi and Welcome,
first thing i would try is, switch to a second keyfob if you have one and remove the battery from the first keyfob,
maybe the unlock button on the keyfob is stuck or broken,
there is a setting for the headlights to come on when the doors are unlocked.

OK thank you. And yes I only have one key. I’m going to try to find someone to make me a second. Probably will have to be dealership.

Ooh dear the dreaded dealership!

welcome to the forum and sorry to hear your problems.

i had similar issues a while ago, the dealer wanted £100’s to source a second key fob from Dodge/FIAT. I researched the web like a madman trying to find an aftermarket clone, but gave up. In the end I sent my problem key off to an electronic repair specialist here in the U.K. who discovered the micro switches on the circuit board were dented. They replaced the switches for about £50 and my problems have never surfaced again.

so in your case in the USA I found numerous repair centres who specialised in repairing key fobs without losing the programming, it would mean you being without your ride for a while as you only have one key. But it would save you being at the mercy of the dealer.

my problem was finding someone here in the U.K., fortunately I did.

good luck with whatever you decide, and let us know how it goes 👍
