Bought my "Nitro" (SXT) on March 28th. I now have 3500 miles on it. It seems like the Dealer has had it more then I have.:(
  • First Visit - Trans. flash (???) Did not work.
  • Second Visit - Rear windows would not operate - Bad electrical connections.
  • Third Visit - Stalling - once on highway, 60 mph - twice in parking lot. Dealer could not duplicate - No Fix.
  • Forth Visit - Torque Converter replace - Did not Fix - Roughest shifting trans. of any car I have ever owned.
I want my Caravan back (97 with 150,000 miles).

It is a shame you have encountered so many problems with your Nitro. I bought my R/T on February 5 and have had no problems whatever. I hope your dealer soon fixes the problems that remain and you become a happy Nitro owner!

Hello Rooster7. Sorry to hear of all the bad things you have encountered with your New Nitro. You know everyonce in a while someone has to get one that gives the dealership some practice with fixing. Guess it was an upper state Virginian who happened to get the practice vehicle this time. Anyway, maybe they will get your problems corrected and you will change your opinion of the Nitro. Look up the recall numbers in this forum and take them to the dealership and request an immediate fix or another Nitro. You are in the Washington area so you must know someone on the hill!!! Get the big guys off their butt..........

Don't give up and stay positive about the problems being fixed

If you don't stay positive that the Nitro will turn out to be what you always wanted........it won't.

Get your dealer to do his job!

5,111 miles already and not one problem.

I take that back, I have had the EVIC think that I have a flat tire right after I rotated the wheels. The sensors must be confused. I'll take it to the dealer when I have some free time, no big deal though.

Keep trying and don't give up on your Nitro.

The thing is with any first year production, there is going to be bugs and problems. Its like that with every first year, no matter who made it. The way I see mine is even with my bugs, it is just fine. I hope you can get it all worked out so you are able to enjoy your Nitro :)

I hope that you live where a lemon law can be applies. Get a new one. I am in the process of using the California Lemon Law to get them to replace my Nitro.

Yeah I second that, I almost had to do that with the last Nitro I had. I constantly had problems with mines, I know the feeling! Good luck with everything, hope you get everything straight.......

Hey SlurpeeGrl,

What was, or is wrong with your Nitro that you need it replaced? Are you having any luck in using the "Lemon Law" to get Dodge to replace your Nitro with a brand new one?

P.S. Cute Avatar pic.

Update

Just a note to give an update on my "Nitro".

Converter replace did not work!

I had a third Complete shutdown, engine & electric. Secondary road, 40mph, three people with me. "Not Fun".

Got my recall, had it done, seems to be OK.(???)

Dealer scheduled a meeting (Friday July 20) with a "Factory Guy". We took the "Nitro" for a long ride. I drove and he read a computer (?) that was hooked-up under the dash. After about an hour of driving (highway & city) he said I had a problem. I don't know what the problem is, but I am having a meeting with the dealer GM Tuesday to find out what they are going to do.

I"ll keep you posted.

I forgot (Senior Moment)

On my way to a hobby activity on Saturday Morning (about 5am) the "Check Engine" light came on. I was only about 3 miles into a 200 mile trip so I returned home, moved all my stuff into my "Dakota" and away I went.

$25,000.00 sitting at home that I can't use.

I'm really sorry to hear about your woes with your Nitro. Quite a few owners have the same ongoing problems. You need to keep bugging Chrysler till they are sick of you. Unfortunately some dealerships are too happy to just let problems flow by hoping the owner will move on. Don't let them. The Nitro is a great vehicle as most of the owners here will tell you. Be persistant and hopefully you will win out in the end...
