Hey ya'll,
This is my first post on the forum. I've been really thinkin of buying a Nitro, I love the looks of it, and the room it has!! I'm torn between getting the 4x4 or the 4x2. I've never owned a 4wheel drive before, but i'm thinkin for snow and ice that we occasionally get here that the 4 wheel drive would come in handy!! I travel alot so i dont wanna get stuck in snow or ice. But then i was reading the the Traction System that comes on both the 2wheel drive and 4wheel drive may help with driving in snow and ice. I really dont know what to do. Any suggestions from anybody???

The 4 x 4 is great if you can afford it. The standard traction control is great too!. If you have never used 4 wheel drive, you need to know that you can only engage it when you are : off road in the dirt, or driving on ice and snow. Otherwise, keep the selector in 2wd.

Hey coulter, welcome to the forum, good to see you here.

You did a good thing to ask before you buy, that way you wont have something you paid for and are never going to use.

My advice, drop the 4x4 and get a myGig instead.

I look forward to more questions and feedback from you in the future...:wavey:

4x4

Get the 4x4 this is my third 4x4 and love them. I use mine in the rain. NY has been getting some really bad weather by way of rain. I have used it a few times in the rain. I have had other Jeep trucks in some pretty bad snow storms in NY and it has been great. Including an ice storm we had. It took me longer to get into the Jeep than it did to get out of the spot I was in. I tell you all I did was put it in 4X4 and I just backed out of the spot. I had to help people from my office to free their cars.

So if you can afford the 4X4 go for it you wont be sorry.

Welcome coulter! I would vote for the 4x4 , Love mine and have had mostly 4wds since 1980 but I live where we get a lot of snow and ice. What ever you chose you can't go wrong with a Nitro ( of course it needs to be Orange! ) Enjoy the forum! :Racing:

4x2 SUV? I think that idea has not yet arrived to Europe - at least to my place.. Nitro is my frist 4x4. Its great, I have used it so many times during the one month since I have it. It is safe to drive in town when it rains. It accelerate much faster, without spinning, it is safer in curves. When you go up the hill by 4x2 in winter without front wheel drive with such heavy front, light back, you may get problem. If you get 4x4 you will enjoy to try it on first offroad you find! And Nitro 4x4 is better offroad then permanent 4x4 of other SUVs!

Here you have the best endorsement for the Nitro 4WD system.

Slovakia has probably has more severe driving conditions than those of us in Canada or the US.
