Just checking in as a newbie. Last Dodge I owned was a 02 Ram Quad. Sold it and bought a 94 Caprice Wagon to pay off the wifes minivan. Wagon is giving me some problems and was looking R/T Nitros this weekend. Reading some of the forums here has created concerns with Dodge quality and has me wondering if I should be looking at a Element SC.

Hi Nitrobert!

I've had my Khaki Nitro SXT 4X4 with C pkg. since early May, I haven't had any problems, I'm lovin' it!:Racing:

I'm not an expert, but I think a lot of issues with the Nitro were with those built before the end of January 2007. First year of the model, and I guess some problems to be expected.

Mine was built in April of 2007, it's a tight well made vehicle, a great paint/wax job, and no complaints:smileup:

NITRO...A MODERN DAY CLASSIC!!:pepper:

Hi Nitrobert, and welcome to the forum! I can understand having concerns about quality issues about new vehicles, as I was in the same boat just a few short months ago. My wife has an import, and she really likes it, so I considered going for the same. Having looked at all of the different choices out there, I settled on the Nitro after reading different reviews on my faves, and frankly, it seems like there are issues in all manufacturers' products. Sure, I was somewhat biased towards the Nitro, because of the extreme curb appeal, but it seems like there aren't any brands that are 100% problem free anymore.
So, obviously and ultimately, it's going to come down to your own personal choice. Reading the good with the bad at this forum though, you will see that there are the mojority of owners here who absolutely love their Dodge Nitros!

Hello nitrobert,

I understand your concerns with the Nitro, after all, buying a new vehicle these days can be a bit of a gamble and an expensive one at that. I see you were looking at an R/T. A good choice as that model seems to be the one with the least issues.
Having said that my SXT which was built in Dec 06 has been flawless, apart from the transmission shudder which I had fixed within a week of buying it.
I now have 12000 kms and everything is fine. I have no regrets buying mine and would recommend one to you.
All I can say is take your time, test drive both thoroughly before making any decision. Both vehicles certainly have different styling to the mainstream vehicles on the road today.
I hope you make the right decision and if so look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Welcome! My last ride was an 03 Element No comparison to a Nitro especially an R/T . The Element is fine for a commuter car but on the road is very hard to control in the lightest of cross winds and no where near as good a ride on rough roads and bumps and the Nitro is just an all around better driver! :Racing:
