hey all,

Right now I currently own a 2008 scion tc. I am looking to get a 4x4 suv and I really like the nitro. I joined here to get some info on it and then show it off when i buy one:).. anything i should know about the nitro before buying.. main thing is how much leg room is in the drivers seat? what is it compared to? I am kinda tall so this is the main thing I am worried about is comfort.

Weclome to the Forum. I also spend time here before I bought my Nitro.

This is a great little SUV, Small on the outside, but huge on the inside. Mine is a late '07 and has run like a Swiss watch. This tells me that Dodge worked out most of the bugs that plagued early models.

Personally, I am not fond of the 4-speed auto, so I went with the 6speed manual. If you have a stick shift your Scion, maybe you should get the 6-speed in the Nitro. Most people seem happy with the 5speed auto in the RT sot this may be another direction to take.

I am far from tall, but my passengers are often large and find it very comfortable. About the only complaint is that the front footwells are a little narrow for some people's tastes.

I would say test drive a Nitro or rent one to get a feel for the wheel well thing. Don't be too hasty to judge as many have gotten used to the footwells after a few days. Keep in mind that you have a real transmission in that hump-- unlike a front driver. So the smaller wheel wells are a compromise to a true 4WD in a samm SUV.

Hi Lex990, welcome to the forum! :wavey: I've had my SXT automatic 4wd since May, almost 6,000 miles on it. I really love it, it looks awesome and is a pleasure to drive. No problem with front leg room either.

We chose the SXT because it has a more sporty look, and we don't have to worry about paint chipping on the fenders when rocks hit into them. It was hard to choose though, because the SLTs and RTs had a cool and classy look about them too.

Have fun shopping around, we didn't even test drive ours, we were that sure. But I'd recommend you test drive one and make sure you're comfortable with the leg-room.:Racing:

I find the shape of the driver's side footwell a little small. I'm 6ft tall, and there is no problem driving it, just wish the shape was wider a little. When using the cruise, I can't seem to find a comfortable place for my right foot except on the pedal. maybe it's just me, but you should take a test drive and see for yourself. Otherwise, I love my Nitro!
