Plain Jane Nitro

I get tired of reading some of the negatives about the Nitro, but if you looked hard enough you'd find unhappy customers of all cars. I notice that almost all cars now a days come with a plain jane blackish interior. I have the SLT with the G package, leather seats, it has some chrome around the interior, that helps break up the black and theres a break from below to above the windows in color. You check out a Rav 4 or Highlander or a lot of others, and they are black from head to toe, very boring. I guess if you want a more comfy interior, go for a $50K+ SUV, but for my $28K I'm quite happy with my Nitro.....:Racing:

Maybe i should have been more specific, the "quality" of the materials used. I mean, the doors are straight freakin plastic! Ahh, but it's nothing that can't be fixed! I may end up doing my doors leather. We'll see!

On the comments there, to each there own. You guys know you are driving a great vehicle, and thats all that matters. More than half of people that make comments, probably have never driven, yet alone see a Nitro in person. Just my 2 cents.

Yea, only thing I felt the pain about, was the interior's material. It could have been much better.
Its a lot better than the Honda I had last, a fingernail could sratch it! I guess they have had to cut corners to keep the prices down , The 93 Buick Le Saber Limited I am driving was almost 26k back in 93, and the Interior is nice but When I can get the Nitro away from my wife I do :D

Face it, outside of some wicked looks, the Nitro is an adequate at best vehicle.

I have driven the best of the best and the worst pos that you would or could ever drive. The Nitro is not among either class. It is OK for what it is. But a great interior? No Way. Great craftsmanship? No Way. It rides OK for an SUV although I have even driven Fords in this class that out ride it. (I hate Ford)

It has good looks, decent manners on the road. It will get you where you are going carrying what you need. And I will grant you that it has a lot of potential. But this isn't a Scion. It is not targeted at the consumer that wants a plain piece of paper to draw on and express themselves. It is targeted at people that want to drive.

So, Why is it that they have so many problems with the Transmissions, the roof rails, the stereo systems, the fit and finish, hell even the engines are problematic.

Don't get me wrong, I like my Nitro. I don't love it. I like it. There is a realism here that escapes a lot of people. Yes, you spent a lot of money on a new car. Yes, you should take care of it and be happy with it. But, lets be honest, is this the best car that you could imagine yourself driving?

Maybe it is. If so, congratulations. But don't be surprised when you find write ups like these. Not everyone has already purchased the car or are willing to buy one even though it is not everything they want.

Just my opinion,

I now return you to your previously scheduled Nitro love fest.................. :)

The criticism in the article doesn't seem that scathing to me, some of it is fair anyway. But I had read all this stuff before I purchased mine, negative articles don't bother me anyway. I liken it to movie critics, they are paid to find fault and I have enjoyed many a movie they have panned.

I love mine and I knew exactly what I was buying. It suits my needs perfectly and the styling will keep me smiling for a long time. I didn't buy a sports car or a luxury sedan, why would I expect it to be one and criticize it because of what it isn't? Plastic interior...who cares, in my opinion it's easy to keep clean and takes a beating.
