truthaboutcars . com has their 10 worst list I guess being finalized and their are 4 chryslers on it:

the compass
the sebring
the aspen
and the Nitro.

Now from my perspective the site tries to paint themselves as the real truth sort of being held down by the mainstream. In reality it looks more like a non-super group mish mash of reviewers, and opinion pieces which supports itself by selling truckerhats and barbeque aprons... I understand everyone has their opinions though.

I saw it last night and figured I'd mention it here. :shakehead:

Either way I'd not change buying my R/T for anything in the pricepoint.

yeah I have a hard time taking advice from someone who has not driven a vehicle, but has the nerve to place judgment on it. the world is full of no-it-alls and opinions, but as your mother's have told you it takes all kinds to make the world go around and opinions are like azzholes, everyone has one and they all stink. how many members do we have on this forum? and how many of those are totally happy w/ the nitro? Sure there are ppl here who have had more woes that others, but the number of nitro's sold speaks for itself. I have never been a follower and do not plan to start now, others opinions of me have not hindered my life before and will not now. I will forever stand loyal to my nitro until the day I trade up for an R/T or it has an untimely demise!

Good catch, acx! I checked out the site ... their list looks like the site's exec committee had a dart game at the local pub, put up a list of miscellaneous vehicles over the board, and jotted down vehicles that the points came close to. From their Nitro review on the same site:

"The Nitro’s designers have banished any features or shapes suggestive of the vehicle's Jeep heritage. Instead, the CAD-CAM crowd drew their inspiration from comic books, mimicking automobiles driven by villains like Big Boy Caprice, Lips Manlis and Pruneface. We’re talking high-sided slab doors, bulging fenders, large wheels and a chopped roof. Add some running boards and Tommy guns and the Dick Tracy look would be complete." I'm pretty sure that's WHY I like my Nitro ... it's UNIQUE and has gallons of STYLE. No cookie cutters need apply for this job, please!

Overall, their own review has an assortment of "I like this" and "I don't like that". If it was a worst-10, one would think that their own reviewer would have given the vehicle a 1-out-of-5 instead of a 3???

I think its all just a big popularity\mainstrean contest. To me all the cars on the road look the same - space age bubbles with no personality. I didn't get my Nitro because I just had to have her but rather to looks and better gas mileage than my last vehicle. The Nitro has a unique look and you don't see them everywhere!! So the stuffy know-it-alls can take their list and.......well, you know!!Long live individuality!!!

Cannot figure out how people can judge things when they know little or nothing about them. How many of those people who focused their opinions have even DRIVEN a Nitro let alone owned one. It is fine to have your opinions on things but make it things you know something about or have had experience of some kind with. Someone else in here mentioned individuality and they are totally correct. Do you want to drive something you see two of at each corner? I know I dont. The Nitro is totally unique and not like any thing else out there. Yes I do agree the interior is a little on the inexpensive side but also is the price of the vehicle. Very reasonable for what you get. Hopefully I will be able to experience ownership soon.

indeed I found my R/T be an unreal value.. In canada I paid 33,3XX for an R/T with leather and premium sound group + tax.

Loaded rav4s and CRVs were near or over 40k.. My R/T was LESS than some Escape limited I was looking at.

Have not read a good review on that car yet....they all don't like it much. The only thing they like about it is the power and that is it.

I saw that as well. I've been quite familiar with that site for some time and was a little shocked considering the review for the Nitro on that website was not really that bad.....I've seen much more scathing reviews on that site.

The review is, however, one of the most negative I've yet to read for the Nitro. That coupled with a 10 worst list that is based upon popular vote of subscribers to the site, most of which whom have probably never riden in or sat in a Nitro. That has got to be one of the worst ways to compile a 10 worst or 10 best list......let people with no hard facts, knowledge, or experience with most of the products vote for them and then post it as gospel.


The Bottom Line.....1 review should not make or break YOUR decision on what vehicle to buy. Different people want and like different things. Research as much as possible and beware advice from those with no experience on the issue they give advice about!
