Hi there,

Looking at getting a NITRO and had a question about 20' rims and btter suspension package.

I'm looking at replacing the 17's on the SLT with aftermarket 22's. Should I order the better suspension package that comes with the 20's, or stick with the 17's and upgrade to 22' afteramarket on stock suspension

the 22's should have more stability with their weight.

Anyone heard of 24's on a Nitro? Would you have to change the brakes?

I had 20's put on my SLT. I think the truck rode better with the 17's. Lots of road noise and not much better handling. From what I understand the R/T doesn't have that much of an upgraded suspension over the SLT. Then again, I reaaly bought tehm for looks and not for the Nitro to be a canyon carver!

Was it the factory 20's or aftermarket?

I'm a city dweller. Toronto!
I wont be using this bad boy on any trails, perhaps only music videos with hot babes hangin off the Nitro, lol
The name is Vagare, they were through the dealer. The tires are Goodyear 245/50 I believe. The rim spec is 25mm offset and 8.5" width. Hope that helps.

That's all very good information... thanks. So are you saying that you would not recommend going from the stock 17" to a 20"? I'm kind of interested in how much the noise level went up. Would you say the looks of the bigger wheel was worth it?

sounds like an awsume wheel and tire package!!!

one last question how much distance is their between the tire and the lip of the fender?

they dont stick out past the fender lip do they?

thanks in advance
Check out this thread there are pictures of the new R/T wheels and you can also see how they sit under the nitro hope this helps http://www.nitroforumz.com/showthread.php?t=851
thanks for the link but i do know how the R/T wheels fit

i have an R/T on order and plan on installing afte rmarket rims. what i am trying to find out is what fits better a 35mm offset rim or a 25mm offset rim

people have said both sizes fit but according to the wheel companys :

the 25 mm offset rim gives 2mm extra clearance to the suspension and moves the rim out 28 mm towards the fender lip

the 35mm offset rim is 8mm closer to the suspension and moves the rim out 18 mm towards the fender lip

i am just want to stick with a rim and tire combo that stays inside the wheel well and fills that wheel well and looks good

I have had 20" inch rims since I bought my nitro...I have absolutly no road noise...i can roll my windows up and hear a pen drop as long as i dont have the radio blaring...haha...I dont know why you have all that road noise?
The distance from the top of tire to lip of wheelwell is essentially the same as the R/T. I would still recommend the 20's because they fill out the bulging wheelwells and give a better stance. They do not stick out past the wheelwell edges, but they are not tucked in underneath either. As far as the noise, I am too particular I suppose. The noise isn't that offensive overall, but I drove my truck for a week and a half before the 20's and there was quite a difference in my opinion. But I always have the radio on and its no big deal. Just wanted to make those interested aware of really my only gripe.

No-I would still go with the larger rim. MAkes the truck look much better!!
