I added evic cluster from 2011 petrol model and steering wheel from 2010. I have 2007 CRD. Didnt need no additional harness, just rerouted 2 wires.
Nice. I guess I will wait for you to tell me how. I need to order a new cluster then.

Cluster is not an issue, radio buttons should still work
So should they work even without it being activated in the computer?

No, they still need to be activated. Anyway, did some photos:

This is connector for clockspring.
pin1- GND
pin2- LINbus
pin3- "+"
pin4/pin5/pin6 are always for cruise

pin 1,2,3 originally came from cluster, they need to be cut and isolated. Nearest place to get GND/LIN/power is your indicator stalk.

Last picture shows how to connect:
pin2- LIN
pin3- power
pin4- GND

Ok, I think I get it now. Which evic cluster did you install, basic like mine with only right display in the RPM window or the advanced with both displays?

So I’m providing the steering wheel harness power, ground, and Lin bus. So how does the horn work without horn switch sense and sensor common return?

Reading on the net and came across the dodge magnum forums. Basically the base model uses 2 wire hardwire horn so to speak. When you upgrade the steering wheel to the evic and audio controls the LIN needs 3 wires to a remote module, Power, Ground and Data. The remote module is the right ride evic switch now in the steering wheel. This has the horn now routed through this module along with the rest of the switches. So when you activate the remote steering wheel controls on the computer you are telling the network to look for these signals now over the Lin bus instead. This sound right?

Pretty much right.
If your cluster has only one display, it is not EVIC. Without EVIC, your steering wheel menu/compass buttons are useless- radio buttons should work.
Advanced EVIC means it shows individual tire pressures etc.
As for a horn, it is no longer hardwired to the cluster. Wires are inside steering wheel. Right hand compass switch is LIN module which transmits horn message to the steering column module, then CAN message to the cluster.

Thank you so much so far, will do the wire taps this weekend and put the steering wire harness back in the wheel.

So if I want to pickup a cluster with evic what else do I need to make the rest happen?

Does the existing tpms system work to show the individual tire pressures?

I would need the compass module and where would the factory location be and hope the plug is there.

The existing temp sensor would appear in the evic display window vs the original I have now.

What am I missing besides this?

Just buy cluster with close enough odometer, it cannot be changed.
It will not show individual pressures, you would need 3 extra pressure recievers and more programming. Not sure it can be done with your programmer.
Compass module also needs LIN/gnd/pwr. My car did not have connector for it.

Yes, the appcar diagfca program does cover all these items. I thought the receivers were there already to read the tire pressures. So there is 2 different systems on reading the tires?

The factory location for the compass that I gave gathered is in the rear somewhere close to the roof antenna? I activated the compass when trying to get the wheel controls to work. After I activated it, there was a stored trouble code for it not being found that I cleared.

I did the wiring tonight. Turned on remote steering wheel controls in the program. Nothing works still, I’m stumped. The everything on the turn signal stalk works, headlights, fogs, etc. Cruise still works, no horn and no steering buttons. I’m at a loss, please help. I disconnected the battery and locked the nitro up for the night.

Quite often programming takes time. After programming you have to turn off ignition and wait some time for modules to turn off. Happened to me just yesterday. Tried to activate rearview camera and nothing happed. Today morning went to car and when reversing radio went to camera mode.

So I should connect the battery and let it sit for awhile? I just didn’t want anything to get screwed up if I leave the battery connected while figuring this out.

These two are salescodes that need to be added using factory programmers StarSCAN or CDA:

LAZ
(Evic reconfigurable)
RDZ (remote steering wheel switches)

confirm that the new sales code has been successfully added to the VIN.

with the StarSCAN tool connected to both the internet and the vehicle, follow these steps.

IN THE INITIAL START UP SCREEN

*PRESS..........VEHICLE PREPARATION
*TOGGLE DOWN AND HIGHLIGHT......RESTORE VEHICLE CONFIGURATION
*PRESS......START
*PRESS......NEXT>
*if necessary, select proper vehicle line and model year and press...NEXT>
*confirm correct selection and press....NEXT>
*enter vehicle VIN using on-screen keyboard or confirm that auto-filled VIN matches vehicle VIN plate and press......NEXT>
*PRESS........OK
*enter user ID, password and dealer code using on-screen keyboard and press.....OK
*wait for vehicle configuration data to be downloaded and then press....NEXT>
*PRESS.......NEXT>
*confirm that vehicle configuration has been programmed successfully
*note on-screen instructions and press.....FINISH

if you have a starMobile with the cda software, follow these steps.

With the StarMobile connected to the vehicle, at the main screen,
*SELECT.....ECU VIEW
*SELECT.....TIPMCGW ECU
*SELECT THE TIPMCGW WITH THE GREEN CHECKMARK NEXT TO IT
*SELECT.....READ/WRITE DATA
*SELECT THE ROW PROGRAMMED ECU'S: VEHICLE CONFIG 2
*SCROLL DOWN TO REMOTE STEERING WHEEL SWITCHES AND CHANGE FROM NOT SET TO SET
*SCROLL DOWN AGAIN TO COMPASS TEMP. DISPLAY PRESENT AND CHANGE FROM NOT SET TO SET
*SELECT....... BACK
*SELECT.......READ/WRITE DATA AGAIN
*SELECT THE ROW PROGRAMMED ECU'S: VEHICLE CONFIG 3
*SCROLL DOWN TO EVIC RECONFIGURABLE AND CHANGE FROM NOT SET TO SET

that's it you're done.

I let it sit and nothing. It’s sitting there again now.

What’s weird is I can press the horn and see it activate and deactivate in the diagnostics tab in the program but does not sound. You can see in the photos below me pressing the horn and it changes to ON.

I know the dealer can add the sales codes if I pay them, but that would defeat the purpose of appcar diagfca programming.
