Here's what I want to do when I get mine. Take the plastic flares off, and replacing them with fabbed sheet metal flat fenders, similar to what you would find on an old WC style Power Wagon. Put 2" of lift, and, at this point, not sure about tire sizes (just finished reading about the close clearances). Really, that's the main thing I want to do to it. I also want to know about how I can get rid of the 3.21 gears that come with the 6-Speed Manual, and put some 3.73's in there. Mine will be a 4x4. I'm so glad that I found this forum, you guys have a wealth of info here!! Probably by the end of the summer, I will have a Nitro, the poor '92 Wrangler needs a rest and rebuilding after driving me 206K miles with NO PROBLEMS!! Thanks for any and all input!!!

Good look with the fab.

You should be able change out the gears. The case housings are the same, so there should be plenty of room inside the pumpkin.

The carrier is different for the front 3.73, so, you'll need to change it out with the ring & pinion.

The rear 3.21, 3.55, and 3.73 all use the same carrier, just different gears.

Mopar part numbers; 68026549AA - Front Carrier, 68019333AA - Front gear set (3.73), and 05143812AA - Rear gear set (3.73)

Thanks for the responses, and to you, Topsail, for the part numbers!! Went to look at the only 6-speed manual 4x4 in Florida yesterday, a sharp looking black SXT with the towing, and 23C convenience packages in Orlando. Trying to get one off the lot so I can get some kind of deal, won't have any leverage with an ordered one. Just thought of something that might be cool, finding some repro Power Wagon emblems to put on the finders, :D, think it would be an interesting touch! I REALLY like this one, all black with the chrome grille and tented windows. Will keep ya posted on it's progress!!

Emblems....

Here is a link to a place to get to get reproduction emblems for a early(46-about65) Power Wagon. It's about 1/3 the way down the page..... http://www.dodgepowerwagon.com/main/parts.htm

If you choose to put them on be prepared to catch hell from the "true" Power Wagon crowd.

I don't think the flat flares are going to give the nitro the look your hoping for. Better off just finding a Carryall(WC-53) and building it, but good luck.
