I was rather surprised to walk out to my truck one morning and see the window busted and everything taken out of the vehicle. I thought it was odd that I didn't hear the alarm considering it was parked right outside of my bedroom window.

I was even more surprised to find out that my Nitro does not have a factory alarm system. Why does it beep when I lock it? False security?

Anyway, is this standard on all models or just the SXT?

The only problem with the factory alarms is that it may interfere with other types of alarm systems. I had a gps tracking system put in mine and it kept triggering the factory alarm. Had to have the factory alarm taken out since my alarm people had no way of knowing how to reset it.

Had nothing to do with frequency.....during my stereo install the battery was disconnected for a few days. That had something to do with the factory alarm resetting itself and the sensitivity level.

You may be able to run the starter from under the hood without a key, but what good is that going to do when you get no fuel or spark? The ECU won't give those to the engine without a key.

No, the alarm system is an option you have to pay for. The beep when locking is so you know it locked.

If you have a desire to install an alarm, I seriously recommend DEI (Viper, etc.). You can get numerous options (two way remote, additional sensors, remote start, etc.) I had one for years and it worked great.

I had the same issue and all my windows smashed etc and no alarm as the door was not opened. I recently got a Mongoose Alarm installed as it works off the Nitro's current keyless entry etc and they added a GSM box so if my alarm goes off i get a text message on my mobile phone.

Yea see i bought my nitro without one, so the day i bought it i had the dealership order me a mopar alarm for my nitro....
Well the alarm was ok, (hard to program) but the Dodge service department had no clue what they were doin, they even told me that they had never put one in, they kept gettin it messed up, when i got it home, i discovered all anyone had to do was press the unlock button on the door from the inside, and it deactivated. pointless if you ask me. and they said "that is the way it is supossed to work" so i said yea right and made them take it out, now i just dont have one..
