Here is my dealers email from today:

Good Afternoon Greg,
To date this dealership has not received any RTs. – as far as I know no local dealerships have received any RTs……
At this point you have several options:
1) Continue to wait for your factory order to arrive – which may not be until July – August – September
2) Cancel your factory order and submit a factory for the 2008 Dodge Nitro RT – which then should arrive September – October
3) Cancel your factory order and order another vehicle
Please advise how you would like to proceed.

That's not good !!!! Sorry man !!!! I waited 9 weeks for mine and just picked it up last Friday. I you are determined to wait I think it will be well worth it !!! Good Luck !!!

I know that you may be leaning toward wanting to cancel the order. I am sure that I would be right there with you if I hadn't got the word when I did that mine was being built.

However, and take this for what it is worth because it is just a suggestion, I might think differently if I were up there with you in Canada and having trouble getting any R/Ts up there at all. 2008 models, last I read, were supposed to be available for order on June 11th. Why don't you put yourself into a holding pattern until June 10th and see where your order is at. If it hasn't been built, then cancel your existing order and order an '08 the next day. You have absolutely nothing to loose.

There is most likely very little difference in the '07 and '08. If your current order goes into the first week of August before it gets built, it will automatically be an '08 model. As is evidenced by the delays of members orders for the R/T, and your order for that matter, there are way more R/Ts on order than can be produced in the '07 model year.

You are not the first to ask this question on this forum. One cancelled back at the end of March. The other, was being pressured to cancel by his dealership. Within a week after refusing to cancel, he found out that his Nitro was being built. So, who knows, maybe dealerships are being asked to voluntarily cancel orders to reduce demand on the factory.

I guess it all depends on if you want an '07 in the middle of the year or an '08 possibly three months later. You have no guarantee from anyone that you won't place an order on June 11th, then go back into a holding pattern that seems to never end, just the way you are now.:i_rolleyes:

Good ideas. I have told them I am waiting and not canceling.

The first thing I did yesterday was make sure the dealership did not think I was on the fence, I firmly told them to keep pushing the factory and that I will wait until it arrives.

If you do a search on the dealerships there are RT's available. I have personally seen three on the Kelowna Dealerships lots.

Do you have tips on how to search dealerships? It would be great to follow up with my dealer and push him a bit harder.

On the Dodge.ca website, build and price your R/T. At the end you can search inventory. It's based off of your postal code. There is a Black R/T at Kelowna Chrysler and a Red one. And at Okanagan Chrysler there is a red one.

I just bought the red R/T at Kelowna Chrysler for my wife and now we're gonna get divorced over who gets to drive this hotrod!

just spoke with my dealer in Hamilton, and he says that he placed an order for a customer last week, that Chrysler called back saying they wouldn't build it this model year. so the rumour is not a rumor, but a pure production reality based on the number of orders. he did tell me that mine will be built as the order was accepted and picked up by their scheduling department, but there is no word on when yet. I'm hoping this is true!!!

Yes, BUT when Chrysler cancelled those '07 RT orders, they were stull taking '07 orders. I believe April 14th was the cutoff date for ordering '07's and production will cease end of May'ish for a re-tooling and to get ready to build the '08's.

that's good news, because I ordered my fully loaded electric blue R/T the first week of MARCH! I hope I get it soon!

oops, I forgot to write that I read the Toledo, OH plant that builds these things has a new flexible production line system that allows them to switch from one model to the next and even to Jeep Liberty's on the fly as the production line is going. Doesn't sound like they need much "retooling" if this is true!

If they want to build me an '08 that's fine too! LOL!
