Hi guys, i recently bought my sliver nitro and so far I only have 1056 miles on it, but from day one, whenever I turn the wheel ( in either direction) there is a rubbing sound coming from inside the steering wheel column. Its not SO bad that it worries the mess outta me, but it's definately annoying when the radio is turned down. Has anyone else encountered this ? If so what should I do ? I know that its under warranty, but Id like to , if possible, avoid sitting and wasting a whole day at the dealership... Thanks for any advice !!!! :Racing:

It sounds like the clock spring inside the steering column would have to be replaced. I had a Pt Cruiser that had the same problem back in the day, and that's how the dealer fixed it.

Not to cause you any worry, but I would get into the dealership at your earliest convenience. Whenever you have a new vehicle that 'isn't right', take it in. That way if there is any trouble down the road(no pun intended ), yer covered. I'm sure it's an easy fix. Or you could always call them and note it now, so they can schedule it to be done with your first oil change.

I also have noticed the noise while steering. It sounds like it's rubbing. My dealer is going to fix it tomorrow. I'll let you know what they say it was.

I had this on a Dakota I have. It was the clock spring. I just ignored it for about 12 months, but finally got it fixed.

It is the clock spring. My dealer had to order the part, says that it isn't a hazard or anything just noisier than the others. I was told that it will take 2 hrs to fix.
