Can one fab a "coolant" filter?
Would be easier than flushing all the time?
Another member here did just that. It is somewhere in this thread.

great idea,
last week someone posted a pic of an engine block with the cylinder head removed, the walls of the waterways where covered in the light brown crud which blocks the heater core.
apparently it is sand left behind from the casting of the engine block, i'm not conviced, almost looks like its caused by a reaction between the antifreeze and the cast iron,

I have the same problem, it's been like this since I bought it 4 years ago. The only difference is, I only get cold air on the drivers side floor, the vents and defrost both blow hot and the passenger side floor blows hot.
Hey all! Been awhile but have an issue. Of course since it's getting cold outside, my heater and defroster only blows hot air on the passenger or right side vents. The left side seems to blow cold air or vent temp. air.
Any help with this problem would be great! Wife drives it and we're supposed to have a chance for freezing rain and possible snow Thursday night! So I need to figure this out QUICK!
I like many others have the EXACT same problem. If any one figures this out please help

I have the exact same problem. Did you ever figure out what it was? I changed the door blend actuator and still the same problem.

Oh ya, and if you don't get them back in the right spot, you have to have them calibrated by a dealer...

I suppose one could try disconnecting the heater core hoses and back-flush it. Just to see what happens.
Hi, another 07' Having the same problem. I have done this along with replacing the thermostat and i checked for blockage. Heater core had good water flow as well. Very stumped. Very weird.

you should be able to narrow down the area where the issue is by feeling the coolant hoses, when the engine is at normal operating temperature, feel the top and bottom radiator hoses and the inlet and outlet heater core hoses, see if one is alot cooler,

The problem is, the heater core is clogged only partially. The end of the heater core inside the HVAC cloggs more and first, this bottom end supplies the air for the driver side. That's the effect of missing heat on driver side,

If the heater core is completely clogged, both sides die.

100% right. just try to clean the heater core like in this video and this should help.

I cleaned in total 14 times, 5 times with citrus acid and nothing changed.

The best method would be a pump and suck flush to shutter off the clogged sand. But until now i have now idea for a tool which could.do this.

All, I have a 2007 Nitro 3.7L purchased new, only garaged and babied. 59K miles, mostly highway and trips. Vehicle looks new under the hood still.

I had never changed the radiator fluid, as it always looked perfect. After 15 years, I changed the fluid a few months ago.
After the radiator drain only and fluid change, I lost heat on the drivers side floor, drivers defrost and drivers vents. Only very cool air blowing even when on recirculate.

I removed the 2 heater core hoses and did a flush with a hot water hose from the washer hookup, moving side to side for 10 minutes. Although I saw no visual issues with flow, I did see a very very small amount of orange particulate come out immediately. On some YT videos, I would see people hook hoses up and just get a drip would come out the center side pipe until they flushed for a long time. Mine flowed full force right away.

I would recommend when you first start the flush, start injecting water from the center side (Exit port), to back-flush the crap out of the core.

End result - It IS THE CLOGGED HEATER CORE causing no driver's side heat. Mine core looked perfect, but still had a little bit of something that clogged up heat on the bottom side of the core.
Now have PERFECT HEAT on the driver's side floor, vents and defrost vents. Absolutely just as hot as the passenger side.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
