What's goin on yall, I've had my nitro for about 4 years and just recently rolled over 100,000 and it seemed like as soon as that happened, the dang thing knew it and decided to roll over and die. Here's a little bit of background: the nitro started overheating, slowly at first, but now its happening pretty fast. There was a slight power steering loss. And when the vehicle was hot and started chiming, the battery light came on. Here is what 've done so far: New battery, new thermostat, checked all fuses in the engine bay, and bench tested the alternator, which tested good. 2 days ago, after I changed the thermostat, I test drove it to the gas station 5 minutes down the road and it did not fix the situation and began to overheat again. I shut it off and when I went to re-start it, it did not crank and the lightning bolt CEL came on. I kept trying, and after about 5 minutes of trying, I turned the a/c on and it started. Now I don't know if it was the a/c that helped or not, but that's how it happened so I'm not sure if its crucial info. I work part-time at an auto parts store, so I'm not completely ignorant on the parts and things. However, i'm not completely sure where to go from here. Any help would absolutely be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Derrick Francis.

When you have a chance, head over to the Newbie Section and say "Hi".
Tell us a little about yourself and your ride.
That way we can welcome you all proper like.

What engine do you have? What year?
Have you replaced the water pump? Are you sure you got all the air out of the system after the T-stat change?

By "did not crank", do you mean did not turn over, or turned over but did not start?
Are the battery terminals clean? Check the + cable connection to the TIPM(fuse box).
Always disconnect Neg (-) first then Pos (+), reconnect Pos (+) then Neg (-)!
NEVER disconnect the Pos (+) with Neg (-) still connected, and NEVER connect the Neg (-) without the Pos (+) already connected.
If you do it backward, you can fry the TIPM, as another member here learned the hard way...

How old is the battery? The Nitro hates low voltage and strange things happen when a battery is on the way out.
