Hello All! Just wondering if anyone has had any issues with paint blistering, peeling? I have about 6 dime size spots of blistering paint on the hood of my car, and 3 of them are corroded right to the base. Under 55K and I'm not a happy camper, as my previous dodge was what the family called the "rust bucket" I have approached the dealer with this issue and their determination was "due to outside factors" I asked for an explanation, and they said it was because of bugs! Bugs corroding right down to the base? I have my car washed nearly every week!
If anyone has had any issues or can make recommendations - your feedback would be greatly appreciated! :wavey:

Ouch! That sucks big time.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, this is not a common issue with the Nitro.
As a matter of fact, this is the first I have heard of the paint blistering on any Nitro.
There have been issues with paint chips on the side, from gravel coming off the road. And a few minor chips on the forward facing part of the hood. But no blistering. Do you have a Pic of it?

This does'nt sound right to me! as Scar stated the Nitro we have on the forumz, none have had hood paint issues. You could do hood stipes and treat the problem that way. It gets you away from an expensive refinish and a good sport look after.
The vinyl shops are doing great things these days, I have had two different hood stripe done...
I think it could be caused from you driving along that beach looking at all the "STUFF" too much and the sand was acting as an abrasive. :D
I know about beach towns and the problem of the "STUFF" getting in the way of seeing things straight....:chuckle:
Post picture of your Nitro and point to the area of concern. We may be able to find a unique way of hiding this!

After having a magnet on my nitro for a while (less then a year), I took it off and noticed the paint had taken on an orange peel look and texture. Have tried buffing it out with a buffer and polish, no change, still looks terrible. I have received an estimate on a paint repair...around $700. Stupid magnet was on there advertising my ex-boyfriend's business...grrr! I saw a fellow nitro owner with a similar advertising magnet and showed her what had happened to mine. She took it off immediately and the "orange peel" effect had already started on hers, just not nearly as bad as mine. Needless to say she was very grateful! I'd say go with the stripes...I wish I had that option!

Bummer! Thanks for getting back to us with what caused the blistering. :rep:
I'm sure other owners will be thankful for the information.

same thing happened to my dad's Durango. an American flag magnet ruined the clear coat underneath, making it cloudy under the magnet. it must have something to do with the dampness after a wash and or rain that is sitting in the same spot.

I tell people who buy magnetics from me to remove them weekly or after it rains to clean and dry behind them. I've seen where left in place and not removed to clean and dry, it will remove the paint down to the primer.

Hi group, I also have the paint peeling problem on my Nitro.

The paint started peeling on the hood, all the clear coat is now off. At first this was the only area affected.
Now Im noticing similar spots along the rear now.

Ill post pics of the hood and the new bubbles that are forming...
